⛽️Are We Watching Football or Chess♟️❓️

Let's be honest nobody watches football to see a low block. It's not why fans fall in love with the game. But if it actually wins you matches, fine, results are results, and in this business results are unfortunately what keeps you employed. 📊

The problem is when the low block doesn't even do THAT. If your team isn't losing but also isn't winning, and you're stuck floating around the bottom half of the table season after season, what exactly was the sacrifice for❓️ You gave up the entertainment and still didn't get the reward. That's the worst of both worlds. 😬

This brings up an interesting question...is Brandon Truter one of those coaches❓️Look at the pattern, his teams rarely get beaten, but they rarely win either. Game after game ends 0-0, 1-1... solid, hard to break down, but somehow also hard to actually win with. It raises the question of whether his philosophy is so built around not losing that going out and winning gets lost somewhere in the structure.

Here's the thing though....not every coach needs to be the "main character" of a footballing philosophy. Some defensive minded coaches would actually thrive as an assistant, sitting alongside a head coach who's obsessed with attacking football.

Picture it...one mind pushing for chaos and goals up top, another mind quietly building the safety net underneath. That's how you get balance. That's how you get a genuine Plan B when Plan A isn't clicking. 🔄

And let's be honest the attacking purists have their own problem. Their teams are must watch TV, banging in goals for fun... but they leak goals just as easily at the other end. 🎯🆚🧤

So maybe the real winning formula isn't "attacking vs defensive" at all. Maybe it's finding the right marriage between the two philosophies.

But here's the uncomfortable question it all leads to...are some coaches leaning on defensive setups to protect their own jobs rather than to actually win things❓️ A string of 0-0s can look like "stability" on paper and buy a coach time, even while the football itself becomes unwatchable.

Fans didn't fall in love with this game for clean sheets and stalemates, they fell in love with it because of goals, risk, and moments of magic. If a philosophy trades all of that away and still doesn't deliver wins or trophies, who is it really serving❓️ 🤔

⛽️Mohau Nkota is back at Orlando Pirates 🏴‍☠️

The 21 year old winger has returned to Bucs on a season long loan from Al-Ettifaq after injuries limited his opportunities in Saudi Arabia. His return also gives him a chance to reignite his career after missing out on Bafana Bafana’s 2026 World Cup squad.

He is a perfect fit for Abdeslam Ouaddou's explosive, attacking style of play. Expect fireworks. 🔥

⛽️Does Khuliso Mudau’s Chappies Deal Signal the Return of Chappies Little League❓️

Khuliso “Sailor” Mudau is the latest PSL player to secure a brand partnership, teaming up with popular bubble gum brand Chappies.

And this one actually makes a lot of sense.

Sailor is known for chewing Chappies gum, including during his footballing routine, so this doesn't feel like one of those partnerships where a brand simply picks a famous footballer and puts its logo next to his name.

There is already a genuine connection between the player and the product.

We also recently saw Mbekezeli Mbokazi secure a partnership with popular TLB manufacturer CAT and once again, the connection was almost too perfect.

Mbokazi is famously known as “TLB”, so having him partner with a company associated with TLB machinery was the kind of collaboration that immediately made sense to football fans.

Now, Mudau's Chappies partnership has us asking another question....

Does this signal the return of Chappies Little League❓️ 👀

Chappies has a long association with South African football, and seeing the brand reconnect with the game through one of the PSL's recognisable players certainly brings back memories.

But it also got us thinking...

Which other PSL players could have a perfect brand partnership❓️
