I contribute what I can and receive what I need.
I am not alone in this.
Our community keeps me going.

We work hard to build a community here where girls root for one another. To us, community is the intentional choice to look out for the person next to you. It’s the cabin mate who helps search for a lost shoe or the group that cheers when someone tries something new.

When a girl feels like she’s part of a group that truly cares about her, she feels safe enough to be brave, curious, and entirely herself. We love watching our girls take that ‘cheer for each other’ energy back home to their own circles after the summer ends. 🌲

Meet Meryl! 🌿

Meryl is returning to WeHaKee for her 3rd summer, and her 1st year on staff as a counselor! She’s from St. Paul, Minnesota, and is currently a freshman at Carleton College, where she plans to major in Sociology and graduate in June 2029.

In her free time, Meryl loves thrifting, playing tennis, and trying out new restaurants.

Meryl is looking forward to classic camp moments like mealtime songs and cabin nights! She’s incredibly excited to be reunited with the WeHaKee community and to help give campers the same wonderful experience she had. ☀️

I wonder. I question.
I embrace the unknown.
I move through the world with an open mind.

In a world that often expects girls to have their whole lives figured out so early, we think it is incredibly important to protect the space to simply be curious. For us, curiosity is about moving through the world with an open mind and being okay with not having it all figured out yet.

Whether it is trying a new activity for the very first time or learning about a different culture from a cabin mate who lives halfway across the world, curiosity is how girls grow. It takes the pressure off knowing and puts the focus on learning. 🦋

Meet Stacie! 🌿

Stacie is joining us for her 1st year at WeHaKee as our Health Center Coordinator! She is from Strongsville, Ohio, and now lives in Cannon Falls, Minnesota. She is entering her senior year at the University of Saint Thomas in St. Paul, where she is studying Exercise Science with a minor in nutrition, and is set to graduate in May 2027!

In her free time, she loves staying active by running or going to the gym, trying her hand at baking, and creating beautiful acrylic paintings.

Stacie is looking forward to creating new connections and making new friends this summer. After hearing from family and friends how rewarding camp life can be, she is incredibly excited to experience the magic of the WeHaKee community firsthand! 💛

Meet Grecia! 🌿

Grecia is joining us for her 1st year as a counselor at WeHaKee! She is from Cd. Juárez, Mexico, and will be attending the University of Texas at El Paso this fall. She recently returned from living in France and has been spending her time gardening with her grandma and cooking for her family.

In her free time, she enjoys crocheting, journaling, and doing arts and crafts.

Grecia is looking forward to trying new activities and building deep bonds with both the campers and the staff. Having previously worked as an au pair for two years, she is excited to continue her journey of leadership and growth within the WeHaKee community! ☀️

I try. I choose healthy risks.
I grow without needing to be perfect.
I bring my best self, even when it’s hard.

We talk a lot about bravery at camp, but it usually is not the kind you see in movies. At WeHaKee, we see bravery as the simple choice to try. It is signing up for the climbing wall when you are nervous about heights or being the first one to introduce yourself to a new cabin mate.

When we take the fear of failing off the table, bravery is what rushes in to fill that space. It gives girls permission to grow without needing to be perfect. We cannot wait to see our WeHaKee girls find their brave side in the North Woods this summer. 💫
