Sometimes the biggest factors affecting recovery are the things happening off the field that nobody talks about.
When you start looking deeper into youth sports injuries, you begin to notice something:
As injuries continue to rise, so do screen time, social media use, processed foods, stress, and constant technology exposure.
A lot of athletes are doing the “right” things — training, lifting, arm care, recovery work — but still end up getting hurt.
Why?
Because recovery is more than just training.
The amount of time athletes spend on phones, social media, and screens can impact sleep, stress levels, focus, and overall recovery. Constant stimulation and stress can increase inflammation and make it harder for the body to fully recover and perform at a high level.
Recovery is not just:
• Throwing programs
• Lifting
• Arm care
It’s also:
• Sleep
• Nutrition
• Stress management
• Mental recovery
• Time away from screens
The little things done consistently away from the field matter more than most people realize
