Sometimes, the greatest victory isn’t scored on the field.
At our end-of-season picnic, Emily Lapinski was named this year’s Terrier Token winner and awarded a brand-new Gait stick. But what happened next made the moment unforgettable.
After talking it over with her mom, Emily made the incredibly selfless decision to pay it forward. Already owning a Gait stick, she chose to pass the prize to the next highest Terrier Token earner, Quinn Johnson, so a fellow athlete could begin her next chapter in high school with a new stick in hand.
That single act perfectly captures the culture we’ve worked so hard to build in WSGYL.
Emily’s mom shared that this has been their favorite season yet—not because of wins and losses, but because of the unity, support, and genuine care these girls have for one another. Emily’s decision was simply another example of those values in action.
And while Emily may have passed along the stick to her peer, her generosity and leadership certainly won't go unnoticed. The Board has something special planned to recognize her unwavering team-first attitude.

🥍 Emily Lapinski
• Midfielder and highest goal scorer across both Junior teams
• Scored the game-winning goal against Agawam in the 1st round of playoff's
• Dominated draw controls all season long, with an above 50%-win avg
• A constant source of positivity & motivating presence for her teammates
• Puts in extra work every day on her rebounder
• Our resident breakaway queen 👑
🥍 Quinn Johnson
• Offensive player who picked up the sport just last year
• Excels at creating opportunities and finding teammates with smart assists
• Strong defensive instincts on the offensive end
• Naturally left-handed but challenged herself to develop her right hand all season
• Progressed from simple hand switches in practice to scoring right-handed switch shots by season’s end—a true testament to her dedication and growth!!
Congratulations to Quinn on receiving this year’s Terrier Token prize and thank you to Emily for showing us all that leadership is about lifting others up. We are excited to see what Quinn accomplishes next year at WSHS with her new "magical wand" of a stick in hand.
