Good Morning from Greg!

I found this picture and almost got excited… then I remembered Mississippi weather likes to hurt my feelings! 😂

I’m not putting the windbreaker back in the truck just yet, but at least there’s HOPE! Maybe, just maybe, fall really is coming. 🍂 Until then, keep that water close and stay hydrated because the heat certainly hasn’t left us yet.

Speaking of the seasons changing, we’re definitely starting to lose daylight in the evenings, so beginning this week our Friday Night Scramble will start at 5:00 PM. Please make sure you’re signed up and ready to go before 5:00 so we can get everyone on the course and finished before dark.

So there you have it—an earlier scramble and a picture showing cooler temperatures in our future. I’m taking whatever signs of fall I can get at this point!

And just like that, another summer at the WPCC pool is in the books!

We couldn’t have asked for a better way to close out the season. We started the morning with nine holes and a great turnout, followed by a delicious lunch. We have some of the BEST cooks around, and the food certainly didn’t disappoint!

Of course, with the Mississippi heat, the pool was the place to be. We ended the day with one of our favorite WPCC traditions — the last jump of the season! We’re not exactly sure when this tradition started, but it has definitely become one we look forward to every year.

A big thank you to all of our members and pool members who helped make this another wonderful summer at WPCC. We hope your families made plenty of memories along the way.

We’re already accepting pool membership applications for next season! And if you’d like to be more involved in helping plan, improve, and prepare for another great pool season, we’d love to have you join the Pool Committee. Just email us or contact the WPCC office to have your name added to the list.

Happy Labor Day from West Point Country Club!

Labor Day is more than the unofficial end of summer. It’s a day set aside to recognize the hard work, dedication, and contributions of American workers — the people who show up day after day and help keep our communities going.

That meaning hits close to home here at WPCC because it takes a lot of labor to keep our little club going.

It’s the early mornings on the course, cutting grass and caring for the greens. It’s maintaining the pool, cleaning the clubhouse, stocking the bar, preparing meals, planning tournaments and events, handling paperwork, and fixing the hundred little things most people never see. It’s also the countless volunteer hours given by our members, committees, MGA, LGA, and Board.

WPCC doesn’t run because of one person. It takes a whole group of people willing to roll up their sleeves and do their part.

So today, while we enjoy golf, good food, the pool, and time together, we want to say THANK YOU to everyone whose hard work keeps The Fine Nine going strong.

DIVOTS FOR DIVAS QUILT RAFFLE

Look at this beautiful quilt handmade by our very own Chiri Hindman!

Chiri generously made and donated this special quilt to help Divots for Divas raise money for breast cancer awareness and help local women receive breast cancer screenings.

Not only could you take home a beautiful locally made quilt, but every ticket purchased helps support women right here in our community.

Raffle Tickets
$5 — 1 chance
$20 — 5 chances

Tickets can be purchased at the WPCC Clubhouse or from any LGA member. We will draw winner at the tournament October 3rd.

You don’t have to play in the tournament to participate in the raffle, so everyone can get involved! Buy a ticket, buy a few for your friends, or grab five chances for $20.

A beautiful quilt. A wonderful cause. And a simple way to help make a difference for local women. Get your tickets and help us support the fight against breast cancer!

Happy Labor Day from Greg! 🇺🇸

Can you believe it? For once, we’re starting a week without a Heat Advisory! Now don’t let that fool you—it’s still HOT 🥵, so keep that water close and stay hydrated.

Today is also the LAST DAY of our 2026 pool season, so bring the family out and enjoy one more day by the pool before we officially say goodbye to summer!

⛳ Labor Day Scramble is this morning! There’s still time to get your name in. Call the clubhouse or give me a call and we’ll get you signed up. We’re only playing 9 holes so we can beat some of this heat, and we’ll have lunch waiting afterward.

And once lunch is over, there’s no reason to rush home! Stay and play a little more golf, take one last dip in the pool, cool off in the clubhouse with your favorite libation, visit with friends, and yes… there’s still plenty of football to watch today! 🏈

However you choose to spend your Labor Day, I hope you take some time to relax, enjoy your family and friends, and appreciate the day.

Come spend Labor Day with us at West Point Country Club on Monday, September 7! We’re planning a fun day of golf, food, swimming, and time with our WPCC families.
⛳ Random Draw Scramble

Tee off at 9:00 AM
Please arrive by 8:30 AM
$10 per person
9-hole scramble due to the heat — but you’re welcome to keep playing afterward!
Sign up no later than Saturday so we can get everyone paired up.
🍔 Lunch at 12:00
The club will provide hamburgers and hot dogs, and we’re asking each member/family to bring a side dish in a disposable container along with the serving utensil needed for your dish.

🏊 ONE LAST SWIM!
The pool opens at 11:00 AM, and this will be the last swim of the 2026 season! Bring the family, grab those swimsuits, and don’t miss our last pool picture of the summer!

Whether you play golf or not, we hope you’ll come spend the day with us. Bring the family, bring a side dish, and let’s close out summer together at The Fine Nine!

WPCC Closing Early Tonight

It looks like everyone has been out enjoying a busy weekend in West Point — from the Prairie Arts Festival and dove hunting to the start of football season!

With things being pretty quiet around the club today, the clubhouse and bar will close at 6:00 PM tonight. We appreciate your understanding and hope everyone has a great evening.

We’ll see you tomorrow, and don’t forget about our Labor Day Celebration on Monday!

Calling all ladies at WPCC!
The West Point Country Club LGA would love to invite all ladies—young, old, experienced golfers, beginners, and even those who have never picked up a golf club—to come spend a fun morning with us!

Saturday , September 19th
Golf starts at 10:00 AM
Please arrive by 9:30 AM

This will be a laid-back, fun scramble format—nothing serious and absolutely no pressure. Think of it as an introduction to golf mixed with a ladies’ social!

Never played before? That’s okay!
Don’t have clubs? Don’t sweat it! We have extras and are more than happy to share.

There is no entry fee. The only cost will be your cart rental.

We especially ask our members to please share this invitation with your wives, daughters, family members, and friends who might enjoy getting out on the course and meeting some of the ladies of WPCC.

Come laugh with us, learn a little about golf, meet some new people, and just enjoy the morning. You might even discover that golf is more fun than you thought!
