Here’s your mahj tea 🫖:
The push is being led by Gladys Grad — longtime Mahjong tournament fixture, creator of Siamese Mah Jongg, and someone with enough history in the American Mahjong world that when she suggests a new dragon, people pay attention.

The pitch:
Red Dragon = Craks
Green Dragon = Bams
Black Dragon = Dots
Soap = 0/O

Basically, Soap has been holding down two jobs for years and would finally be relieved of her dragon duties.

And this isn’t just Mahjong lunch gossip. Grad reportedly sent out 5,000+ sets of Black Dragon stickers in the first week so players could turn their blanks into Black Dragons.

Before anyone calls the League: NMJL has not changed the rules. The Black Dragon is a proposal, not an official NMJL tile.
But considering who is behind it and how quickly it’s making its way onto tables, we obviously need to discuss.
