Wenham Country Club started in 1897 as a construction of a series of golf holes on land known as "Tarr’s pasture." It officially opened in the summer of 1899, exclusively to townsfolk, and within a year a small shelter was built for changing shoes and storing clubs. In 1924, on the 25th anniversary of its founding, the Club leased additional land and expanded to an 18 hole layout, and opened to th

e public. At this point, it boasted a membership of 50, and belonged to both the US and Massachusetts Golf Associations. In 1949, on the 50th anniversary of its founding, the Club boasted a membership of over 200 with representatives from all over the North Shore and surrounding areas. At this time, it enjoyed a more modern clubhouse with full facilities, as well as active men's and ladies' divisions, and junior memberships were offered for the first time. In 1974, the Club celebrated its 75th anniversary with a flag raising ceremony that was attended by over 300 members, town officials, neighbors, and golfing dignitaries. Beginning in the early 1980's, the Club began an aggressive campaign of improving the golf course as well as rebuilding its membership. Several greens and tees were rebuilt, the irrigation system was completely replaced, the clubhouse saw many improvements, and two new maintenance buildings were built. Wenham Country Club continually looks to improve the experience of our Members and the Public who play here. Keep an eye out for anything new, and be sure to contact us with any questions.

Wenham Country Club will open for the 2026 season at 12:00pm on Monday, March 30th! We are implementing a new tee time and Point of Sale system, so please call the pro shop for the time being to make a tee time.

Russ Tarr grew up and worked on the course from a young age. In the early 1980s Russ and Pat took over management and rebuild it to its current condition. He has been a part of Wenham Country Club his entire life. Many of you saw him this past season continuing to ride around the course and check on projects.

As many of you may have known, Russ had been struggling with health related issues in the recent months.
Unfortunately, on December 30th, surrounded by family, Russ passed away.

We had 10/10 golfing weather yesterday for the kick off of our 2025 Summer Kids Golf Clinics, and had almost 50 children show up ready to learn to golf in a fun and engaging way! Our Summer Kids Golf Clinics will be happening every Friday this summer (except the 4th of July) from 10AM-12PM! Be sure to check them out!
