Ellieโs First Pitch
Freshman Ellie Hirsch has been a vital part of the Arrow Softball family for the past three seasons. Last year, Ellie was our starting left fielder and a key pitcher for the JV team.
On June 27, 2025, everything changed for Ellie. While spending the day at the lake with friends, she suffered a seizure. She became unresponsive and had to be intubated, she was life flighted to Sioux Falls. During her stay at Sanford Childrenโs Hospital, Ellie was diagnosed with autoimmune encephalitis, a rare neurological condition. She spent the rest of the summer being a patient at both Sanford and the Mayo Clinic, receiving treatment and beginning her long road of recovery.
Since that day, Ellieโs world has looked very different. The things that once came naturally now come with challenges most people could never imagine. But through it all, Ellie continues to show up with strength, resilience, and heart beyond her years.
Even when she would rather be out on the field competing alongside her teammates, Ellie continues to put her team first - cheering from the bench, encouraging others, working hard, and bringing light to everyone around her. Her smile, laughter, and positive spirit continue to make an impact on this program every single day.
Tonight, we want to celebrate Ellie and show our love and support for one of the toughest girls we know. Her courage through these challenges have inspired all of us, and we are proud to stand beside her every step of the way as she throws out the first pitch before tonightโs game. ๐ฅ๐๐
