What a season it was for HVC 14-Black but even more importantly was what an impressive group of girls. Anytime you put together a travel team from different schools you never really know how it's going to go. This team had 3 girls from each Bloomfield, Loogootee and Washington. While the talent was obvious from the first day of tryouts it took sacrifice on each of their parts to gel as a team and have the kind of season they did. Some were asked to play different roles (sometimes changing within a day) than they had in their past and all did so without any complaints.
The talk all season in practice or games was about not focusing on the result or outcome but to focus on each contact and the results would take care of themselves. “Don’t let the score be a distraction!” Their growth in skill and understanding of the game throughout the season was amazing and while individual growth is the primary goal of the club season this team achieved tremendous success. They finished 28-2 in 5 tourneys beating teams from some of the biggest clubs in the region. They won 3 titles and had a 2nd place and a 3rd place finish. To go along with their talent and love of the game, this team displayed grit and always found a way to dig deep when needed. Still can’t believe they came back to win a set when down 4-19.
They were truly a joy to watch play and represented themselves, their families and HVC with nothing but class. They are already superstar individuals (parents you've done a great job) and have the potential to be future superstar volleyball players for their schools.
Great season HVC 14-Black!!
