One of my favorite parts of this work is when clients come into session bursting with something they can’t wait to share, not just with me, but with their favorite animals, too.

This week, we played music for Tank and introduced him to a cool little boombox. He was sweet, curious, and completely tuned in.

It reminded me that so much of healing happens when we feel witnessed. We all want someone to say, “Show me. Tell me about it. Let me experience this with you.” Therapy isn’t always about fixing or solving. More often, it’s about creating space for someone’s joy, grief, excitement, or fear to be seen and held. Sometimes, having another being bear witness to our experience is exactly what we need.

And Tank, as always, was an excellent listener. 🤍

Gemma 💎 Our resident lap goat and professional cuddle expert. If you take a moment to sit, she’ll waste no time climbing right into your lap. She always reminds us that sometimes the simplest moments of connection mean the most. We sure do love this special little girl. 🤍

So incredibly proud of what we've built over the past year. ❤️
Almost a year ago, Lisa made a Facebook post looking for a psychotherapist to co-facilitate a free grief support group. I immediately jumped at the opportunity. Grief is not only one of my specialties as a clinician, but it is also something that resonates deeply with me and my own family's experiences.
Last night, our group gathered in person at Sunnyside Farm. We sat in the field overlooking the pond and the cows, shared a meal together, and reflected on the loved ones we've lost and how we're navigating life without them. There were tears, there was laughter, and there was so much connection.
My favorite part is always witnessing the incredible support that forms within this group, watching members show up for one another, offer insight, share their experiences, and remind each other that they are not alone in their grief.
It has truly been an honor to be part of this work and to offer this space to our community.
A huge thank you to the for sponsoring our in-person grief groups this summer, and of course to Lisa and Katie. This would not be possible without you. ❤️

Most of the time, Milo’s job consists of naps and looking cute.

But recently, during a session, a client became tearful while talking about the loss of her parent. Without any prompting, Milo stopped what he was doing, climbed into her lap, and stayed there while she cried.

One of my favorite things about animals is that they don’t feel the need to have the right words. They simply show up.

And sometimes, that’s exactly what healing needs. 🤍🐾

Our Maddie girl ❤️

Maddie likes to be acknowledged. When you walk into the goat area, she expects you to stop, say hello, and spend a moment giving her some love. If you come in distracted or skip past her, she’ll make sure you remember her with a little headbutt.

Honestly, it feels like such a good reminder to slow down and be intentional with the animals. We’re stepping into their space, and taking a moment to acknowledge them is the least we can do. Once Maddie gets her hello and a few pets, she’s happy to follow you around or run off to play with her friends. She just wants to know she’s seen ❤️

Anyone who comes to the farm learns the importance of interacting with animals with kindness, patience, and calmness. Some of our animals are blind, some are a little shy, and some have come from very difficult situations and need a little extra care and gentleness.

Tank got a new stuffy, and this moment perfectly shows what that looks like. Getting down to his level instead of standing over him, giving him time to explore something new, and approaching him softly and respectfully.

We love these animals deeply, and we are so grateful for the people who understand the importance of being gentle, loving, and safe spaces for them too. 🐮🤍

Melvin got his spring haircut 🐑✂️

Sheep are sheared to help keep them healthy and comfortable as the weather gets warmer. Their wool keeps growing, and without regular shearing they can become overheated and uncomfortable.

Safe to say Melvin is feeling much lighter and our clients are going to be SO excited to see his new look at sessions this week 🥹🤍
