Switched gears to Leech Lake smallmouth today, and these guys out did themselves. 40 smallies went topside, these fish are such a blast💥 Taking advantage new year-round catch and release season for bass. Water temp was 42-45.

I have some may any June bass dates still available if anyone is looking to get out.

Leech Lake guide trip #1 for the season was a blast, and the big LMB’s were chewin’! Water temps were 41-44. The fun part about water in the 40’s is that if you find one, you might’ve just landed on the MOTHER LOAD.

Remember, bass fishing is now year-round for catch and release in MN. You might just want to call in sick tomorrow? 😂

Good news Minnesota!

From the Minnesota DNR website: "Continuous bass season
The rule became effective January 26, 2026. This rule created a year-round continuous bass season. Portions of the continuous season will be catch-and-release only, while other portions will allow for bass harvest."

I have May 4th, 5th and 6th open (7th and 8th are now booked) for C&R bass, either LMB's or SMB's. If it's a really late ice-out for some reason, smaller waters may be in play. Give me a shout if you want to get out.
