Viking Timeline: Six Hall of Famers made their mark at VCSU in the 90s. Matt Johnson (Golf), Kirk Zink (Wrestling), Danielle (Olson) Perich (Basketball, Track and Field), Don Bauer (Athletic Director), Lori (Johnson) Pederson (Basketball), and Dwayne Smith (Basketball).
Matt Johnson was a 3-time All-District and All-Conference golfer. He won the NDCAC individual conference championship as a sophomore in 1991. He would finish as the NAIA District 12 Runner-up that year. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2021.
Kirk Zink was a National Runner-up in wrestling in 1994, and 7th in 1995. He was conference champ in 1996 and took third in the nation. He was a three-time All-American. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2012.
Danielle (Olson) Perich was a 4-time letterwinner in basketball, indoor and outdoor track. She was All-NDCAC 3 times in basketball. In Track and Field, she was a 7-time All-American. She was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2010.
Don Bauer served as VCSU's Athletic Director from 1995-2004. He oversaw renovations to the track at Lokken Stadium, installing chair seating at Lokken, new wood floor and lighting at the Bubble. He was inducted to the Hall of Fame in 2007.
Lori (Johnson) Pederson was a 3-time All-Conference basketball player. She ranks 14th all-time in scoring and 4th in rebounds. She was named team MVP during her senior season of 1995-96. She was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2016.
Dwayne Smith was an All-American during the 96-97 season. He was a 3-time All-NDCAC selection. Currently, he ranks in the top 10 in many career categories including scoring, FG Made, steals, and rebounds. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2016.
