Gwen is fairly new to her martial arts journey, but her story is already something special. ❤️
For a while, Gwen would sit and watch her big brother train on the mat. She watched him learn, grow, work hard, and challenge himself. Then one day, Gwen decided it was her turn to step onto the mat and begin a journey of her own. 🥋✨

Now, she is training right alongside her brother, learning new skills, building confidence, and discovering just how strong she can be!

🥋🌟 ANOTHER BIG ANNOUNCEMENT FROM SONGAHM MARTIAL ARTS ACADEMY! 🌟🥋

Everyone, we would like you to meet Mr. Harley Fortner! 💙

Harley is one of our awesome students in our MAK Kids Class on Monday nights, and we have watched this young man go through an incredible transformation right before our eyes. 🥹❤️

When Harley first joined us, he was quiet, shy, and unsure. He wasn't quite sure about us, our instructors, or even how our classes worked.

And that's okay. ❤️
Sometimes, confidence doesn't happen overnight. Sometimes, it takes time, patience, encouragement, and a safe place to simply be yourself.

Over the past few months, Harley has slowly started to come out of his shell. He has warmed up to his instructors, his peers, and the environment around him.

And then something amazing started happening...

✨ HARLEY STARTED BLOSSOMING! ✨

Every time he steps onto our mats, we see more of his personality coming through.

He's talking to his peers.
He's working with his peers.
He's becoming more comfortable.
He's becoming more confident.
And most importantly, he's believing in himself. 💪🥋

A few short weeks ago, we decided it was time to give Harley a BIG challenge!

After talking with Harley and his parents, we presented him with an opportunity to step outside of his comfort zone and begin a Leadership Training Challenge with Mr. O'Keeffe. 👊

During this challenge, Harley gets the opportunity to work alongside Mr. O'Keeffe and our other leadership students during our Tiny Tigers classes.

This isn't just about learning martial arts.
It's about learning what LEADERSHIP truly means.

It's learning how to help others.
It's learning how to communicate.
It's learning how to encourage his peers.
It's learning responsibility.

And it's learning that sometimes being a leader means stepping outside of your comfort zone. 🌟

And Harley isn't stopping there!

🥋🏆 His next challenge is our Scholastic Tournaments!

We're going to introduce Harley to the tournament experience one step at a time. This will give him another opportunity to build confidence, meet other students, make new friends, and discover just how much he is capable of accomplishing.

And who knows what comes next? 👀

As the months go by and Harley continues to work through each challenge, we've already started talking about the possibility of moving him into our Leadership Program and seeing where his journey takes him from there.

Never forget how far you've already come.
The quiet, shy young man who first walked through our doors is slowly becoming a confident young man who is learning to step forward, take on challenges, and believe in himself.

🥋🔥 SOMETIMES, THE BIGGEST BREAKTHROUGHS COME FROM THE SMALLEST CHALLENGES! 🔥🥋

SMA PARENTS,

Wednesday night was a pretty special night on the mat! 💪🥋

Mr. Liam Paris was in class training hard as Mr. O’Keeffe was getting everyone ready for the upcoming tournament.

As the class continued, Sr. Master Hill stepped onto the mat and began talking with the students.

Then… Sr. Master Hill walked to the other side of the mat and came back carrying a WOODEN BOARD. 👀🪵

Little did we know, Liam was about to face a challenge he wasn't expecting!
Liam is a GREEN BELT who has worked incredibly hard to earn his rank.

He is preparing for his FIRST TOURNAMENT, and like many students, he has been working not only on his techniques—but also on his confidence.

Sr. Master Hill challenged Liam to break that board.

And Liam DID IT! 🔥🔥🔥

He worked through his confidence. He focused on his hip rotation, technique, speed, and power—and then…

💥 NUMBER 2 FRONT KICK! 💥
🪵 BOARD = BROKEN! 🪵

Everyone watching was absolutely SO PROUD of Liam! ❤️

That board break wasn't just about breaking a piece of wood. It was about breaking through doubt, trusting his training, believing in himself, and realizing just how powerful he can be when he doesn't give up.

🙏🥋 A BACK-TO-SCHOOL
PRAYER FOR OUR SONGAHM FAMILY 🥋🙏

Heavenly Father,

As we prepare to begin another school year, we come before You with grateful hearts. Thank You for giving our students another opportunity to learn, grow, make memories, and become the best versions of themselves.

Lord, we ask that You watch over every student as they walk through the doors of their schools this year. Protect them on the roads, in the classrooms, on the playgrounds, and on the fields. Keep them safe from harm and surround them with people who encourage, guide, and believe in them.

Give our students strength when things are difficult, courage when they are afraid, patience when they are frustrated, and confidence when they begin to doubt themselves.

Remind them that making a mistake does not mean they have failed. It means they have another opportunity to learn.

Help them carry the lessons they learn here at Songahm Martial Arts Academy into everything they do—discipline, respect, perseverance, integrity, confidence, and a never-give-up attitude.

Bless our teachers, administrators, coaches, parents, and everyone who works hard to help our children succeed. Give them patience, wisdom, and strength as they guide our students throughout the year.

And Lord, when one of our students has a difficult day, let them remember that they are never alone. Give them the courage to stand back up, take a deep breath, and try again.
May this school year be filled with growth, friendships, accomplishments, laughter, and countless reasons to be proud.

Watch over our Songahm family throughout the entire 2026–2027 school year.

Help our students walk into this new year with their heads held high, their hearts full of courage, and the confidence to say:

On August 6th, 2026, we held a little Belt Test, and WOW—our students showed up ready to work! 💪🔥

👏 CONGRATULATIONS to every student who tested! 👏

We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you. Your hard work, dedication, focus, and determination truly showed tonight. Watching our students grow, learn, and push themselves is what makes these moments so special! ❤️🥋

Our students put their skills to the test by performing their forms and one-steps, and they absolutely crushed it! 🔥

They also did an AMAZING job with Combat Sparring and Sparring, led by Ms. Clair Smith! 🥊🥋

A HUGE shout-out to Ms. Smith for doing such an incredible job leading the sparring portion of the test. Your energy, leadership, and dedication make a difference in our students' training! 👏

And another BIG congratulations to Mr. O’Keeffe for doing an amazing job leading the Belt Test! Your leadership and commitment to our students never go unnoticed.
