As a parent, have you ever been told your child has a “behavior problem”?
What if it’s not a problem at all?
What if it’s a signal?
Today’s kids are growing up in a very different world than we did.
- More devices.
- Less movement.
- Fewer face-to-face social interactions.
- More overstimulation.
And parents are feeling it.
You’re trying to:
• Get them off screens.
• Help them build confidence.
• Improve focus.
• Strengthen emotional regulation.
• Teach resilience.
But sometimes what shows up instead looks like:
- Frustration.
- Low patience.
- Big emotions.
- Social awkwardness.
- Shutting down or acting out.
Here’s what I want you to know: Behavior is communication.
When a child is overwhelmed, their nervous system reacts before their thinking brain can step in.
That doesn’t mean they’re “bad.” - It means they need support.
That’s exactly what our Children’s program here at Master Overbey’s is designed to provide.
We focus on:
- Connection before correction.
- Regulate before redirect.
- Safety before skill.
Because when kids feel safe, they grow.
When they feel understood, they build confidence.
When they learn to regulate, everything changes — at school, at home, and socially.
Parents don’t need perfection - They need partnership.
They need environments that truly understand today’s challenges.

As part of our "School Safe/Street Safe" curriculum, over the next 4 weeks we will be reviewing our Stranger Alert module in all Children's classes. This includes discussion and role play on how to recognize and respond to a bad stranger's tricks, or lures, including: Bribery lures; Assistance lures; Directions lures; and online lures. We will also discuss the imporance of establishing a Family password.

When kids walk through the door, they’re rarely carrying just a backpack.
They’re carrying pressure.
Doubt. Anxiety.
The weight of trying to fit in.
Our job isn’t to erase those things in an hour.
It’s to teach them how to carry themselves differently.
What happens on the mat doesn’t stay on the mat.
Posture changes. Voices get stronger. Eyes lift.
