Fun and accessible group lessons have been designed by NM Scott Roods to take students from absolute beginner all the way to USCF rated tournament play! We also offer tailored individual instruction for players of all levels. The Temecula Chess Club believes that every interested student should have access to quality chess instruction for free! Come and join our Chess 101 Part 1 class every Monday

It was Elias Alonso and Gavin Mainwaring who ended up tied for 1st place in August Advanced group class, and here, they enjoy their prizes! Many students made significant rating gains and played well also! Just a heads up- we will be open with regular hours for free play tomorrow and Labor day! ♟️

Tonight we begin the TCC 156 Jim Mennella Memorial tournament at 7pm. It will be 10 rounds of G/45+5 in remembrance of our beloved James, whom we will miss very much, and we will make a more in depth tribute to him in the next few days as we gather materials and the right words to say. Last month, Marius Lucan (right), Avinaya Subedi (left), and Henry Doktorski (center) wore the crowns and took prize money by finishing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places respectively! Who shall come through in the marathon 10 rounder of September? We shall see!!!!!

A quick heads-up for all Junior Joust players and families!

Our JJ7 Official USCF Rated Tournament is happening Saturday, August 29th, but we’ll be starting a little later than usual.

New Start Time: 2:30 PM

Fundamentals (Afternoon Session)
Best suited for beginner students with a flexible schedule who have little to no tournament experience or formal chess instruction.

Fundamentals (Exclusive Session)
Best suited for beginner students with a busier schedule who have little to no tournament experience or formal chess instruction.

Advanced Class
Best suited for intermediate-level students who have completed formal chess instruction and are looking to strengthen their skills, compete more confidently, and improve their USCF ratings.

In the JJ tournament on Saturday, Michael Perchersky took clear 1st with a perfect score of 4-0-0!! The best age 10 and under prize came down to a blitz tie breaker game shown here, after Ace Reyna and Milan Cervantes finished the main tournament tied with 3 points each. Ace Reyna won by trading down into a single rook endgame up several pawns, and then smoothly converted it. 4 newcomers played in the tournament as well!! Congrats to all!!! 👏💵📰📊🤓

For the month of July, our advanced group class crowned 2 co-champions; Andre King (right) and Noah Soules (left)!!! 👏🏆🏆 Heading into the final round, Andrew held a half pount lead over Noah. When Noah won convincingly in his game, and Andre went down a piece in his game, it looked like Noah would take clear 1st, but then Andre showed his endgame prowess that he is becoming known for, as he salvaged a draw in the game and tied the score for the month! Stories from the board continue next month- what happens next? 📰📚♟️

The summer has been surprisingly busy!Summer camp batch 1 and 2 were both full to near capacity. Regular group class and advanced group class have also been much more numerous than usual for June and July.
In TCC 154, Marius Lucan took 1st, Avinaya Subedi took 2nd, and Justice Stephens, Joe Walley, and Jacob Koral tied for 3rd. Also Jeremy Farr and John Barraco saw large rating gains. (pictures 1&2) In advanced kids group class, newcomer Andre King has taken the lead with the last round to be played on Friday (picture 3)

Due to unavoidable circumstances, we regretfully have had to make changes to this week's schedule.

Friday's Advanced Class (July 24) has been canceled and will resume on Monday, July 27.
Junior Joust has been postponed from July 25 to Saturday, August 1 at 2:00 PM.
