Happy from one of our freshmen, Riva Bhanushali! Riva has been dancing for 5 years, and this is her first year in DanceWorks!
“Towards the end of my senior year of high school, I was consistently getting asked, ‘Are you dancing in college?’ My answer was always no, but I was never truly confident in my answer. After dancing competitively throughout high school, I thought college would be my time to step away from the studio. But once I got to Syracuse, I quickly realized that I missed having an outlet that challenged me, surrounded me with friends that had shared experiences, and gave me a sense of community. That’s what drew me to DanceWorks. I wanted to continue growing as a dancer while finding a community that would make Syracuse feel more like home. Joining DanceWorks felt like a way to keep a huge part of my life while allowing myself to experience dance in a completely new way. At first I had doubts about trying out. I was intimidated to start dancing again after being out of the studio for a couple of months. I finally decided to try out because I really just missed being in a studio. I quickly realized that if you put yourself out there, there are so many ways to get involved in DW. So just try out—you won’t regret it!”🌟🌟
