Our swimmers drop time at meets because we coach differently. We build strong technique from the ground up, combine proven training methods with mental sports coaching (goal setting, talking through race anxiety & mental strategy) and actually pay attention to each swimmer - no favoritism!

Here’s how that happens:

✅Small groups (6 or less)
✅USA Swimming certified coaches
✅real results
✅no long contracts
✅join at any time
✅lessons once/week

You're not locked in, your swimmer isn't stuck in a rigid curriculum, and you're not paying for progress that isn't happening.

Our families tell us their kids progress faster here than anywhere else they've trained.

BRONZE (30 min) - Prerequisite: swim one length independently.
SILVER (1 hour)
GOLD (1.5 hours)

Our adult beginner stroke development classes begin on Sept 16 from 5-6 pm. These classes are for people who understand the basics of swimming but might not have strong technique, might struggle with head placement for breathing, etc. This is not a learn to swim program but the next step up from that. Coaches are not in the water and the water depth is 6 feet.

By the end of the 12-week program, you will be confident in the water, understand breathing technique, know how to swim freestyle and backstroke, improve your swim speed and efficiency, and be on your way to a lifetime of swimming!

This class is limited to 6 people only so don’t let this opportunity pass you by!

If you’d like to know more about this program to see if it’s right for you, we have a “try before you buy” day on Sept 9 from 5-6 pm. Cost for the one hour class is $75. You must register by Sept 7th by emailing [email protected]

Summer by the Numbers 🏊

Our goal: 100% of swimmers ages 5–adult learn to swim in 6–12 half-hour small group classes.

For those who learned to swim this summer, thank you for helping us keep that stat alive! 🙌

📊 Average lessons to learn: 10 (that’s only 5 total hours)
🏆 Fastest learner: an adult who learned in just 2 lessons
🚀 First to learn: a child, in 4 lessons
🎯 Last to learn: a child, in 12 lessons
👶 Youngest swimmer: 4.5 years old
🧓 Oldest swimmer: 50s
👥 Group sizes: 5 for youth/adults, 3 for toddlers
🌊 ~98% started as complete beginners
😰 Almost 100% of adult learners started out with a fear of swimming

Toddler crew:
🩱 4 toddlers learned to float on their own
🏊 5 toddlers learned to swim underwater for a short distance on their own
⭐ 1 toddler learned an actual swim stroke (and actually learned two)!

Small groups. Real progress. That’s how we teach.

What a FABULOUS summer season! For the 3rd year in a row, 100% of our swimmers age 5 through adult who completed their full 6-12 half hour small group lessons learned how to swim. THREE YEARS STRAIGHT and counting! We're so happy this year's swimmers helped us keep our 100% stat alive, and so proud of every single one of them!

Some standout moments: an adult swimmer swam in just 2 lessons, and a child in only 4! And even though we don't promise it for our toddlers (their little brains are still developing the coordination for it), we still had plenty of toddler wins this summer: one toddler learned freestyle AND backstroke, 4 toddlers mastered floating on their backs, and a couple of our littlest swimmers were confidently swimming underwater. These kids (and grown-ups!) worked so hard and it showed.

None of this happens without incredible coaches. Huge thanks to Coaches Andrew and Kara, and to Coach Lily, who joined our team this year! Their patience, skill, and heart kept our streak alive for one more year, and made this our best season yet.

Next year, our learn to swim classes will have early bird specials starting in January! Follow NoVa Sports Coach so you don't miss out.

At NoVa Sports Coach, we never promise that your toddler will learn to swim by a certain age. Brains develop on their own timelines, and the coordination swimming requires (kicking, arm movements, breath control, all at once) typically comes together between ages 5 and 7. No amount of pushing speeds that up.

But when a swimmer IS ready…watch out!!!

This summer Erik (one of our toddlers!) didn’t just learn to swim freestyle. He’s already working on backstroke. That’s what happens when we meet kids where they are instead of forcing a timeline. Thats when the skills come and they come solid.

Congratulations, Erik. We’re so proud of you. 🏊

Congratulations to Caroline on her “Outstanding Improvement” award! She had only been in ONE of our gold classes when she received this award so we can’t take any of the credit! But, what I will say is after only two lessons, she has dropped 2.4 seconds in freestyle and has seen huge improvements in her starts and turns! We can’t wait to see just how far you will go, Caroline! Congratulations!!! 🥳🎊🎉

We’ve had some great things happening with our learn to swim program. So many people are learning the lifesaving skills of swimming! Congratulations to Sirin, Uttara, Omari, Meghan and Erik (a toddler!) for learning how to swim!!!

CONGRATULATIONS A’MARE!!!
Dropped 3 seconds in 25 breaststroke and won 1st place in her meet today!
