Skating Towards The Future: Howelsen Ice Arena Project Advances

The Howelsen Ice Arena expansion project is moving forward with the selection of a preferred design-build partner. Following interviews and careful consideration of four highly qualified teams, the project team—which includes the city, Steamboat Springs Youth Hockey Association and Steamboat Springs Figure Skating Club—has selected ARCO Murray/HTG Architects to lead the project’s design, budgeting and construction.

The ARCO Murray/HTG Architects team brings valuable experience with community ice rinks, along with strong market knowledge, sourcing capabilities and financial expertise. These strengths will help guide the project from initial concepts through construction as the community works toward this much-needed expansion.

The project team is now working to finalize the contract and develop a detailed design schedule. This next phase will establish a clear “Path-to-Ice,” outlining key milestones and helping guide the project toward completion.
