Your credit score should not pull up to the dealership like an uninvited family member with “something to say.” 😅
You find the car.
You take the test drive.
You have already connected your phone to the Bluetooth.
The payment looks reasonable, and the salesperson says:
“Let’s check your financing options.”
Then your credit report walks in wearing sunglasses like:
“Not so fast. We need to discuss these collections, late payments, reporting errors, and that store card you opened for 15% off in 2019.” 👀
This is why checking your credit before applying matters.
Your credit history can affect:
✅ The interest rate you are offered
✅ How much money you may need upfront
✅ The vehicles or loans you qualify for
✅ Your chances of being approved for housing
✅ The total amount you repay over time
Here is the educational part nobody likes until it saves them money:
Your credit score is calculated using information from your credit report. That may include your payment history, balances, account age, recent applications, and the types of credit you manage.
So no, your score is not dropping because Mercury is in retrograde.
Something on your report may need attention.
My Credit Readiness Review is an in-person breakdown designed to help you understand:
• What may be affecting your credit score
• Which accounts require immediate attention
• What information may be inaccurate, outdated, or incomplete
• What steps you can take to improve your credit habits
• How to prepare before applying for a major purchase
No magic wand.
No secret loophole.
No “850 by Thursday” nonsense.
And no, disputing everything on your report like you are throwing spaghetti at the wall is not a credit strategy.
You need accurate information, realistic expectations, and a practical plan.
Because better credit is not just about bragging rights or posting a screenshot of your score.
It is about having more negotiating power, paying less interest, and having better options when opportunity shows up.
What financial goal would stronger credit help you reach?
