To learn more visit out YTT page at: https://www.BalanceYogaYTT.com Balance Yoga grew out of my own experience with debilitating pain, movement, and learning how much body mechanics matter. After years of standing behind a salon chair and dealing with my own foot injury and scoliosis, I began studying yoga more deeply and discovered how alignment, breathing, strength, and better movement patterns could completely change how the body feels. What started as teaching yoga became something much more specific. I realized I loved helping people understand why they hurt, how they move, and what small changes can make daily life feel better. Today, Balance Yoga is a small-group yoga studio in Springfield, Illinois specializing in beginner yoga, body mechanics, pain-aware movement, private yoga sessions, Chair Yoga, and Great Yoga Wall instruction. My goal is to help students move with more confidence, understand their bodies, and build movement habits that actually support real life.

You don’t have to leave your life to practice shifting.

The laptop can still be open.

The work may not be finished.

You can still plant your feet, notice your breath and give your body a moment to respond.

Fall often brings the message that it is time to get back into a routine.

But what if your routine included practicing how to pause, notice and respond?

Nervous System Reset is not about escaping stress or becoming someone who never feels activated.

That is not realistic, and activation is not the enemy.

This class is about practicing what to do when your body has been gripping, rushing, reacting or running in GO mode for too long.

We move.

We breathe.

We RINSE.

Then we notice what changed.

These are tools you can practice in class and use at your desk at 2:00 on a stressful Tuesday afternoon, while sitting in your car, after a difficult day or before trying to sleep.

Let this be the season you practice noticing what you need before you become completely overwhelmed.

A new weekly class is coming to Balance Yoga 217.

𝗡𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝘁
T𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝟱:𝟯𝟬 𝗣𝗠
B𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬

This is a 60-minute practice for stressed, busy and overwhelmed humans who need practical ways to downshift.

It is not a workout, and you will not spend the entire hour lying still.

We will use gentle movement, breathing, body awareness, choice, Balance Yoga’s signature RINSE practice and supported rest.

The goal is not to remain calm all the time.

It is to build your ability to notice, adapt and shift.

Beginner-friendly. No yoga experience or flexibility required.

Class size is limited to 10 students.

You pull into the driveway, turn off the car and SIT.

Your body has made it home.

But the rest of you is still at work.

Your hands are gripping the steering wheel.

Your shoulders are lifted.

Your jaw is tight.

Your mind is replaying conversations, planning dinner and running through everything that still needs to be done.

What if you could shift before carrying the entire day through your front door?

Nervous-system regulation is not about remaining calm all the time. It is about noticing the state you are in and having practical ways to respond.

During Nervous System Reset, you will explore approachable movement, breathing and grounding practices that can help you shift during real life, not only while you are inside a yoga studio.

You will also leave with a simple 3-Minute Reset you can use after work, before bed or during an overwhelming day.

𝗡𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝘁: 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲. 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲. 𝗥𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗲. 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝘁.

🦵 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝗾𝘂𝗮𝘁-𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿! 🦵

When was the last time you actually squatted?

Not at the gym. Not just sitting into a chair.

I mean using your hips, knees and ankles to lower your body toward the ground.

For many of us, daily life simply doesn’t require that movement anymore.

We sit in chairs.
We sit in cars.
We use raised toilets.
We bend over instead of lowering down.

And movement is very much a 𝘂𝘀𝗲-𝗶𝘁-𝗼𝗿-𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲-𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹.

So this October, I’m challenging you to sneak squatting and hip mobility back into the life you’re already living.

☕ While the coffee brews
🪥 While brushing your teeth
🍲 While waiting for the microwave
📺 During TV time
🪑 Squatting safely toward a chair
🏠 Using the counter or underside of cabinetry for support

Your squat does NOT have to be deep or pretty.

Start where your body is today.

Build the movement. Use it or lose it.

Welcome to 𝙎𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙩-𝙩𝙤𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙩 𝘽𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙔𝙤𝙜𝙖.

Read the new blog on our website to learn why this basic human movement may be worth bringing back into your day.

Fall reminds us that change does not have to happen all at once.

It can happen gradually.

A little less gripping.

A slightly slower breath.

A few moments of movement before asking your body to become still.

We tend to think rest should happen automatically. But many of us have become so skilled at going, doing, solving and pushing that doing less no longer comes naturally.

You can lie on the couch while answering emails, scrolling, planning tomorrow, clenching your jaw and barely breathing.

Your body may have stopped moving, but have you actually shifted into rest?

𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹.

And like balance, strength or mobility, it can be practiced.

Join us for:

𝗨𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝘆𝗼𝗴𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽 𝗶𝘀 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴.

I hear versions of this all the time:

“I don't want to use the block.”

“I should be able to reach the floor.”

“I'll try it without the chair.”

But here's the thing...

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘢𝘭 𝘪𝘴𝘯'𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘥𝘰 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱.

A block might bring the floor to you.

A chair might give you enough stability to actually work on your balance.

A strap can help you find an action your body wasn't understanding.

The Yoga Wall can give you feedback, support, resistance, or traction.

And sometimes I give you a prop because I want to make something 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘳, not easier. 😉

Props aren't a consolation prize for the person who “can't do the pose.”

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆'𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝗜 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆.

That's what I'm talking about in this week's 𝗕𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀.

𝗛𝗔𝗦 𝗬𝗢𝗚𝗔 𝗕𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗘 𝗪𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗗 𝗗𝗢𝗪𝗡?

Yoga has become widely available, and in many ways, that is wonderful.

But as yoga has become more mainstream, I sometimes wonder if some of its substance has been lost.

A yoga class can become a sequence of movements set to music. Students follow along, work up a sweat, and leave without necessarily learning anything about their bodies.

I believe yoga has so much more to offer.

I want you to leave class understanding something about your body that you didn’t understand when you walked in.

We explore how your feet support you, how your joints move, how your breath affects your body, where you may be compensating, and whether everyday movement habits could be contributing to stiffness, instability, or pain.

The goal isn’t to make a yoga pose look impressive.

The goal is to help you:

💙 Understand your body
💙 Improve strength, mobility, and control
💙 Move more confidently as you age
💙 Breathe more fully
💙 Regulate your nervous system
💙 Reduce pain and function better in daily life

This is what I believe yoga can be: purposeful, educational, and capable of creating meaningful change.

I wrote more about this in this week’s 𝗕𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀.
