Trust your gut? Sometimes your gut is full of it. Literally.

When your nervous system is running hot, your "intuition" isn't wisdom. It's static. And organizations have nervous systems too, which explains a lot of meetings. 🙃

🍽️ If you're not at the table, you're on the menu.

Decisions about you are getting made either way. Your team, your budget, your workload, your community. The question is whether your voice is in the room when it happens.

💪 Showing up isn't about being the loudest. It's about being present when it counts. Ask for the meeting. Raise your hand for the committee. Send the email.

🤝 And if you're already at the table, look around. Who's missing? Pull up a chair for them.

You don't need to feel ready. It's a decision. You just need to start.

Q4 is when a lot of us look at the list of things we meant to do this year and hear that "not yet" voice. Especially leaders.

📉 And leaders are tired. Gallup's newest State of the Global Workplace report found manager engagement worldwide dropped to 22% in 2025, down nine points since 2022. That matters, because about 70% of a team's engagement comes down to their manager.

🧠 Here's the thing about "ready": it's a feeling, and it usually shows up after action, not before. Confidence gets built by doing the thing.

✅ Pick one conversation, project, or change you've been putting off. Do the first 10 minutes this week. Starting small counts. Starting slow counts.

It gets fast and shallow. A long, slow exhale is one of the quickest ways to help your body settle.

🔬 Five minutes a day of slow sighing breaths improved mood more than meditation (Balban et al., 2023).

An algorithm and a pharmacy. That's the whole chain now.

Utah is letting AI renew antidepressant prescriptions with no doctor signing off on each one. The guardrails are real. So are the holes. And the people it serves may be the ones who need help least.

I'm not anti-AI. I'm anti-opaque.

📊 Discomfort is data.

That tight chest before a hard conversation? The knot in your stomach when you say yes to something you don't want? That's information, not a verdict.

🧠 Your body often notices things before your brain catches up. Learning to read those signals (psychologists call it interoception) is one of the most underrated performance skills out there.

🔍 Next time something feels off, get curious before you push through. Ask: what is this telling me? Do I need to stretch, or do I need to stop?

Quick note: discomfort and danger aren't the same thing. Growth feels uncomfortable. Unsafe feels unsafe. You're allowed to know the difference.

Visualization isn't wishful thinking. It's practice your brain counts. 🧠

Athletes, surgeons, and performers use it because mentally rehearsing a skill builds real improvement, especially when the picture is vivid and feels like the real thing.

Try it today: 2 minutes, eyes open or closed, your choice. Walk through one moment you have coming up. What do you see, hear, feel?

My background is a master's in performance psychology, and I'm a PhD candidate studying trauma and community resilience. Before that, I spent 15+ years in marketing leadership at Sony and ASICS, including time living in Tokyo. I know what it's like to be the one holding it all together.

Emotional regulation is not a personality trait.

it's a skill. and like every other skill — it's trainable.

this is the part that changes everything for the women I work with.

because most of them have spent years believing they're just wired a certain way. too reactive. too sensitive. too much.

but here's what the science actually says — emotional regulation is a learned capacity. you can build it deliberately. intentionally. over time.

it starts with understanding your emotions — what they actually are, where they come from, what they're trying to tell you. and then it moves into something harder and more powerful — deciding how you want to use them. not suppressing them. not being run by them. using them.

that's where mental toughness gets built.

not in the absence of feeling. in the deliberate practice of understanding what you feel and choosing what to do with it under pressure.

it takes time. it takes practice. and it is absolutely worth building.

That's what this workshop teaches.
