Unfortunately tonight our season came to an end against a very good Middleton team. The team played extremely hard but the ball did not go our way. The team never gave up and fought until the end. Sparta Spartans Lose To Middleton Varsity Cardinals

Sparta Spartans lost to Middleton Varsity Cardinals 6-1 on Tuesday at Middleton High School.

Middleton Varsity Cardinals jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Tyler Vogt singled, scoring one run, Joey Passaglia grounded out, scoring one run, and Bryce Esser laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring two runs.

Passaglia earned the win for Middleton Varsity Cardinals. The starter surrendered four hits and one run over seven innings, striking out six and walking three. Jackson Bender took the loss for Sparta Spartans. The starting pitcher went six innings, surrendering six runs (four earned) on seven hits, striking out none and walking four.

Simon Schmitz, Landen Bolen, Blake Iverson, and Sebastian Lopez each collected one hit for Sparta Spartans. Bolen went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in.

Esser led Middleton Varsity Cardinals with two runs batted in. Chase Rogers led Middleton Varsity Cardinals with three hits in three at bats from the leadoff position. Middleton Varsity Cardinals didn't commit a single error in the field. Brad Koeller had the most chances in the field with seven.

Tonight was our end of the year banquet! Players and families enjoyed ice cream and toppings after a warm day of practice. Congratulations to David F. On his MVC sportsmanship award, Simon S. and Jackson B. On their MVC honorable mentions, and Landon C. For his second team all conference award! Congratulations to Simon S., Landon Z. and Nolan Z. On their MVC all academic team award! Congratulations both our varsity and JV team for a great spring! Thank you to everyone for their support of these athletes!

It was a program sweep last night vs Logan!! Varsity won 6-3 as Jackson Bender threw a complete game! JV won 1-0 on a Presten “oh don’t ya know” Ebert walk off!!! Here is the varsity game changer recap:

Sparta Spartans Beat La Crosse Logan Varsity Rangers

Sparta Spartans were triumphant over La Crosse Logan Varsity Rangers 6-3 on Thursday at Sparta High School.

Sparta Spartans got on the board in the bottom of the third inning after Landen Bolen drew a walk, scoring one run, and David Fabry singled, scoring two runs.

Jackson Bender earned the win for Sparta Spartans. The right-handed pitcher gave up seven hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out three and walking four. Owen Check took the loss for La Crosse Logan Varsity Rangers. The starting pitcher went three innings, allowing three runs on three hits, striking out one and walking four.

Fabry provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Sparta Spartans with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Simon Schmitz, Karson Swenson, Fabry, Landon Connelly, and Bender each collected one hit for Sparta Spartans. Sebastian Lopez led Sparta Spartans with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing eight walks for the game. Lopez stole two bases. Sparta Spartans ran wild on the base paths, piling up five stolen bases for the game. Sparta Spartans turned one double play in the game.

Jackson Bosch and Sam Diehl each collected two hits for La Crosse Logan Varsity Rangers. Hank Bosch, Jesse Lycke, and Check each drove in one run for La Crosse Logan Varsity Rangers. La Crosse Logan Varsity Rangers turned one double play in the game. La Crosse Logan Varsity Rangers were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Bosch made the most plays with six.

This past weekend players helped umpire and work concessions for the Sparta Youth Baseball Association 10U tournament! The boys learned what it was like from a different perspective on the diamond. Congratulations to the SYBA 10U team for winning 2-1 in extra innings of the championship game and a tournament championship!
