Been busy over here learning new things! This one means so much to me and I’m super excited to start sharing a somewhat different way of practicing yoga. I plan to offer low cost community classes soon to get more comfortable teaching so stay tuned!

That caption is on point.

Most of our suffering comes not from what we experience, but from our conflict with how we wish things would be. We want people to be different. We want ourselves to be different. This is our ego at work. That conflict lives within us and creates an inability for us to accept people, things, and ourselves as they actually are. Understanding and making peace with the truths of life rather than fighting against them allow us to heal.

Which of these do you resonate with most?

IT’S TIME

There comes a day, somewhere in the middle of every woman’s life, when Mother Nature herself stands behind us and wraps her arms around our shoulders, whispering

“It’s time.”

“You have taken enough now. It’s time to stop growing up, stop growing older and start growing wilder.

There are adventures still waiting on you and this time, you will enjoy them with the vision of wisdom and the companionship of hindsight, and you will really let go.

It’s time to stop the madness of comparison and the ridicule of schedule and conformity and start experiencing the joys that a life, free of containment and guilt, can bring.”

She will shake your shoulders gently and remind you that you’ve done your bit. You’ve given too much, cared too much, you’ve suffered too much.

You’ve bought the book, as it were, and worn the t-shirt.

Worse, you’ve worn the chains and carried the weight of a burden far too heavy for your shoulders.

“It’s time” she will say.

“Let it go, really let it go and feel the freedom of the fresh, clean spaces within you. Fill them with discovery, love and laughter. Fill yourself so full you will no longer fear what is ahead and instead you will greet each day with the excitement of a child.”

She will remind you that if you choose to stop caring what other people think of you and instead of caring what you think of you, that you will experience a new era of your life you never dreamed possible.

‘It’s time’ she will say…

“to write the ending, or new beginning, of your own story.”

"Some people finish college and start their careers at 22, only to find themselves unhappy and starting over when they are 35. Others start working a minimum wage job at age 16 and work their way up the company retiring happily at age 50. Some people get married at age 25 only to divorce at age 27. Others marry at 50 and spend 40 years with their soulmate. Some women are ridiculed for becoming teen moms but end up living to meet their great great grandchildren. Other women get pregnant at 40 and are ridiculed for putting their unborn child at risk. There is no 'right' way to do life. There are no timelines. You are not late. You are exactly where you should be."

Ringing in the new year with two feet in.

This year I choose to burn my good candles on a Tuesday at noon, just because. I choose to use the expensive lotion. The one I keep tucked safe up on the counter. Not ration any of my most cherished belongings, because I am worth investing in. Right now.

This year I choose to wear that thing. You know, the one I told myself I would slip on when I looked a certain way? I choose to love my body. This vessel I have been given. And her seasons as they shift.

This year I give myself permission to change, and keep changing. For I understand there is an underlying truth when it comes to becoming — it doesn't have to mirror anyone else.

This year I choose to let go. Really let go. Of the heavy. Of the half-hearted. No more forcing connection where it no longer lives. I choose to nourish what's willing to grow.

This year I choose to be grateful for the teachings of my yesterday. I honor my wholeness when I honor my whole story — even the shaky parts.

This year I choose to step forward. Clear eyes. Heart open. Two feet grounded. Palms wide to the all-is-possible, unknown and new.
