OCFOA Officials Featured in Referee Magazine

On pages 58-59 of the May 2026 edition of Referee Magazine, officials (L-R) Bob Biggio, Jim Stickney, Chris Salio and Dan Pulos, were pictured in the article "The Right Mix".

The article touched on the points of emphasis crew chiefs should consider when aspiring to become a crew chief, inheriting a standing crew, putting together a crew from the ground up or adding a new crew member to an existing crew.

Entering the 2026 season, OCFOA fields 26 standing crews along with a training crew for those officials aspiring to join a tackle football crew. If you would like to officiate high school football, tackle or flag, it's not too late to sign up.

Through continuing education outside of the normal rules instruction curriculum, OCFOA members were treated to a presentation by long time Orange County High School coaches Kurt Westling & Dave Brown last night.

Thank you Coach Brown and Coach Westling for helping us officials understand the X’s & O’s off the field which helps us be better officials on the field.

OCFOA Speed Castillo Golf Tournament is Monday June 22, 2026.

Early discounted registration ($100/player) is now open until June 1. Late registration after June 1 until tournament day ($110/player).

Proceeds go to offset OCFOA operating costs, discounts membership dues discounts for first-year officials and the Chad Wilson Memorial Scholarship Fund.

A number of San Diego County Football Officials Association members joined officials to officiate the RX3 Foundation 2026 Charity Flag Football Tournament this past Saturday, 3/21/2026.

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of long time member Barry Sousa last week.

Barry served OCFOA as a crew chief for many years along with officiating numerous other sports. Barry was a consistent sight across Orange County high school and youth sports. You would be hard pressed to encounter a sports official that had not had the privledge of working with Barry no matter the sport or age level.

Please join us in honoring and mourning the loss of Barry Sousa. Barry will be greatly missed.

Congratulations to Andrew Lambert on his selection to Super Bowl LX officiating crew as the Replay Official.

Lambert, an OCFOA alumnus officiating CIF-SS football from 2003 - 2019, served as the Replay Official on John Hussey's crew this past season.
