**WE ARE HIRING** Stable Life Farm is in search of a part-time Horsemanship and Riding Instructor. Below you will find the duties, expectations and compensation information:
Duties:
*Meet with clients before lessons to collect the students and take over "ownership" for the duration of the lesson time.
*Teaching students in both mounted and unmounted skill sets. We are a horsemanship program, not just riding. One week per month is set aside, strictly for unmounted skills. Be able to plan accordingly.
*Make sure used lesson ponies are properly groomed/showered and cooled out, put away and tack/equipment is put in proper places, before leaving.
*Make sure students leave the farm with the correct parents.
Expectations:
*18 years old or older
*Reliability and Punctuality are non negotiable. We pride ourselves on these attributes. Instructors are expected to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to lessons in order to get organized and prep anything they need for the first lesson. Prep time can be built into the schedule, between lessons, if needed. If you are scheduled for lessons, we expect to see your bright, beautiful, shining smile here at the farm, teaching. If you find out you can not make it for some reason, please reach out to other instructors to have the spot filled. Most of our students are children and we pride ourselves on not being just one more disappointment in their lives, due to cancellations.
*NO DRUGS, ALCOHOL, TO***CO or VA**NG will be brought onto the property or into the barn. There will be a ZERO TOLERANCE for any of these.
*NO FELONIES OR RESTRICTIONS AROUND CHILDREN (This is non negotiable)
*PHONES are to be used for keeping track of time and anything lesson related. Personal use, while with students, will not be tolerated. Breaks between lessons can be built into the schedule for this, if needed. Instructors are expected to stay focused on students, without distraction. We really, really enjoy sending students home alive.
*Respect will be given to all horses and humans in the barn. Our lesson ponies are not just employees of our program. They are part of the barn family; unicorns, if you will. While we are not against disciplining a 1200lb toddler, should they decide to be naughty, it will be done quickly, with respect and will "match the crime". If there is an ongoing issue, let me know. I will handle it. Parents and students will be treated with the utmost respect. If there is a problem, let me know. I will handle it.
*Instructors are expected to have a little bit of an internal clock. Our lessons generally consist of 15 min to tack, 30 minutes of riding, 15 min to untack and cool out. The more advanced a student gets, the more ride time they get. Try to stay inside the parameters of the scheduled lesson time.
* Be flexible. Sometimes 2 instructors will need to share the ring. I promise, it is big enough for everyone. Be able to discuss pony/tack/space use constructively.
*Honesty will be your best friend at this farm. Lying is a deal breaker for me. So either be an honest person who can own mistakes and offer solutions or learn to become one.
(If you made it this far) Compensation:
Instructors a can expect to earn 1/3 of lessons scheduled (this is a minimum of $21.66/hr) This means you are paid for that student, whether they show up or not. Students who cancel are offered makeups at a time that is convenient for the instructor. This might mean they join a group you already have or they might get scheduled for a timeslot that we know has a cancellation. We try to not have our instructors showing up specifically for makeups, unless you choose to. Cancellations on the part of the farm or instructors are credited to the students the next billing cycle and are not paid.
We cover your liability insurance through Equisure.
Potential for paid time off each year.
The current schedule that will need covered is:
Thursday mornings 8:00-Noon
Friday mornings 8:00-Noon
These hours have the potential for up to 24 students. We are looking for someone to start on Oct 1, 2026. Once hired, we will begin advertising. To apply for this job, please follow this link: https://form.jotform.com/261032955575057
If I respond to calls, texts or messages, it will be to let you know where you can find the job application. I am looking for a specific human being, and that human being must be able to follow directions, read instructions and put forth effort. ;)
