16U Legends Coastal Clash recap:
16U Gosselin traveled to Gloucester Mass this weekend for their final summer tourney of the season. The team powered through with a few injuries and started off going 2-1 in pool play to take the 4 seed in bracket play. On Sunday they were able to start with a commanding victory and went into the quarterfinal against a strong opponent but were not able to come through with a victory. They end their weekend in the 5th spot, going 3-2 with 25 runs scored to 23 runs allowed.
Player highlights: Quimby .455 average, 1 double, 5 runs, 3 RBIs. 10 Ks in and 1 win in 9 innings pitched. Durant .400 average, 1 triple, 2 runs, 4 RBIs. Gosselin .400 average, 1 double, 3 runs, 5 RBIs. Kingsbury .364 average, 3 runs, 3 RBIs. 5 Ks and 1 win in 7 innings pitched. Emma Graffam .364 average, 1 double, 1 triple, 4 runs, 4 RBIs. Robshaw .364 average, 2 triples, 3 runs, 2 RBIs. Matwyko 8 Ks and 1 win in 7 innings pitched.
A majority of the team are 14U eligible girls who opted to take on the challenge of the 16U division this year along with a few first year 16U players and they ended their season with a .571 winning percentage, making for a formidable challenge to many older teams throughout the summer.
