25 Years. One Lesson: Never Quit.
Over 25 years ago, I stepped onto the mats for my first Jiu-Jitsu class. Since then, it’s been one of the most rewarding, humbling, exciting, and frustrating journeys of my life.
There were periods of growth, setbacks, injuries, and times when life pulled me away from training. But I’ve learned that success isn’t about perfection—it’s about persistence. It’s about continuing to move forward, even when progress feels slow.
This weekend, I had the honor of receiving my Brown Belt from my friend and former student, Justin Farwell. While I’m grateful for the promotion, what it really represents is the power of never giving up.
What made the moment even more special was having multiple generations of students on the mat with me—from the old West Academy days to the Fight Time Fitness family we have today. It was a reminder that the people you surround yourself with matter. The right coaches, teammates, friends, and support system can help carry you through the toughest parts of any journey.
No matter what goal you’re chasing, keep showing up. Keep learning. Keep fighting.
The biggest victories don’t happen overnight. They’re earned by refusing to quit. 🥋👊
