It was a great weekend diving the hood canal with !
YSS is proud and honored to be part of these wonderful projects to collect data and bring awareness literally from the bottom of the sea to the scientists who can speak for the species and their community environment on behalf of positive actions towards conservation. We had a great weekend with awesome conditions and great encounters.

The YSS Team had so much going on this weekend, and hands down one of the highlights was the advanced class with .burns.scuba great dives and incredible GPO sightings! it’s courting season and love is in the water ♥️🐙♥️.

The J Pod is one of three orca family groups (J, K, and L) that make up the endangered Southern Resident Killer Whale population. These individuals have strong ties to the Salish Sea in Washington and British Columbia, and we were lucky to see them 2 days in a row on the way to our dives with 🫍🫍🫍

Today we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

From all of us at YSS Dive, we extend our deepest gratitude to those who gave everything for the freedoms we enjoy today. Their courage, dedication, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

As many of us spend this Memorial Day enjoying time with family, friends, and the outdoors, we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of this day.

Here are a few quick clips from last week’s dives, just a warm up for this weekend’s adventures, plus a fun dive day with Bambi.

We were lucky to find a giant Pacific octopus, a few Lewis’ moon snails, giant California sea cucumbers, and of course an absolutely massive lingcod 💚💚💚
