The Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) is pleased to join partners at all levels in celebrating the International Year of the Woman Farmer (IYWF) 2026. Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2024, the IYWF highlights a global commitment to empowering and recognizing women in agriculture.
ODA invites industry partners and the public to submit stories and photos. We look forward to featuring these women across our communication platforms throughout the year. To participate, please complete the online form at http://oda.direct/IYWF .
Women play a vital role in American agriculture, contributing through production, advocacy, education, and entrepreneurship, while also strengthening rural communities through leadership and outreach. According to a report by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), in 2022, the U.S. had 1.2 million female producers, about 36% of the country’s producers. Oregon is home to nearly 30,000 female producers, ranking in the top 5 nationwide.
