"Oct 1st 2024 we got Riley into walk in care Oct 1st 2024 we got Riley into walk in care as he had low appetite, fatigue, shortness of breath, swelling around eyes and overall not feeling well. Riley was rushed to northern light and found to have fluid around his heart. He started to get sicker overnight and they life flighted him to Boston Childrens hospital where he was in complete heart failure and had to be put on ECMO for life support. He was on ECMO for 8 days and we were inpatient for 13. Riley had to go back to Boston for another admission with more chest tubes placed to drain fluid. Multiple tests were completed and they thought it was from a virus. Jan 2025 riley was back in Boston and had to have 3 chest tubes placed to drain fluid from lungs and heart. He had a pericardial window placed and was found on biopsy this was all caused from angiosarcoma cancer of his pericardium of his heart. He had 6 rounds of intense chemo and was found to be in remission for the summer which got him back on the baseball field doing what he loves. Aug 18th I noticed his breathing was more labored so Back to boston we went and found his cancer had returned. 45 days inpatient stay and we are now home receiving chemo in brewer maine. Rileys older brother Brady has been hunting for a few years now and Riley has been super excited to hunt himself this year for the first time! Brady shot a crossbow for the first time this year and he was able to bag his first doe/deer ever with a crossbow. Brady then went out during youth weekend and was able to come across a crotch horn that he got with his rifle. Riley wasn't able to get anything youth weekend but he did see a couple. Brady then went hunting on opening day and bagged another doe with his extra doe tag going 3 for 3!!! Riley had yet to get one at this point. My husband Brad was able to go with him on Sat. night Nov. 1st! Riley is very competitive and always told me "mom i'm going to shot a 10 pointer this year." Riley has approx. 15 hours total in hunting in his 9 years of life. I got a phone call sat. from Brad saying "Kris I think Riley just got an 8 or 10 point!" Next thing I know we are weighing him in with tons of people around to witness this miracle. God granted Riley his wish to bag a great big Buck!!!! The 10 pointers official weight is 210 so he will be getting his patch!! Also, Rileys best friend Tucker shot his FIRST deer 8 pointer the same day!!as he had low appetite, fatigue, shortness of breath, swelling around eyes and overall not feeling well.
