Exposure to who?

I would rather have an athlete in front of the right programs than hundreds that do not fit.

That is why fit comes first.

Then exposure has a purpose.

Fresno State isn't the kind of opportunity an athlete can count on simply showing up.

There are talented athletes everywhere competing for the attention of programs like this.

That's why I keep telling families that talent and recruiting are two different things.

Your athlete still needs the right schools, the right visibility, strong film and communication that gives coaches a reason to keep paying attention.

I've looked at a lot of recruiting strategies over the years, and one thing I see constantly is families doing recruiting activities without a real strategy behind them.

They're sending emails.

Going to events.

Posting film.

Building school lists.

But do you know which programs actually need what your athlete offers?

Have you studied the roster and potential opportunities to play?

Do you understand how heavily that program uses the transfer portal?

Are your emails actually creating dialogue with coaches?

And is your athlete getting exposure to the RIGHT programs, not just more programs?

Those are the questions I want families asking.

Recruiting shouldn't be hope and activity. There should be a reason behind where you're spending your time.

I’m going to say 7 things. Count how many you agree with. 👇

1: Your athlete works harder than most kids their age.
2: College coaches do not have time to browse for players. They recruit names already on their list.
3: A great highlight video nobody watches is worth nothing.
4: An email that looks like fifty other emails gets ignored.
5: Paying for a camp where no coach knows your athlete’s name is paying to be invisible.
6: Your athlete’s grades decide how many schools can even recruit them.
7:Nobody ever handed your family a plan for any of this. You have been figuring it out as you go.

Instead of getting clearer, they ended up with more questions than answers.

I see this all the time.

Families don't necessarily need MORE recruiting information.

They need to know what actually applies to their athlete.

Which opportunities make sense?

What should we focus on?

What should happen next?

Recruiting is a game. Your athlete has trained for years to play their sport, and zero minutes to play this one. That is why talented kids lose it. 🎯

I sat on the other side of this game for 11 years as a D1 coach, scout, and recruiter. I watched families lose it every week. Not because their kid was not good enough. Because they did not know how it is played.

Every game has the same parts:

The clock. Recruiting windows open and close by grade. Most families do not know when.
The field. The schools that actually fit. Most families are chasing 40 logos with everyone else.
The rules. Eligibility, contact periods, what coaches can and cannot do.
