Classes offered Mon.-Fri. (5:45am-9am) at Searcy Swim Center:

Early Birds (5:45-6:55 MWF, 5:45-6:30 T-Th): We warm up and stretch all major muscle groups, then do cardio for 20-45 min., after which we cool down and end with stretching. “One beautiful thing about working out in the water is that each exercise can be modified so that participants can be challenged at almost any level of fitness.”

Tabata (6:30-7 T-Th) is a type of high-intensity interval training (HIIT), which consists of 4-minute cycles of alternating 20 sec. of fast movement with 10 sec. of slow movement. This class is high-intensity, but as with all of our classes can be modified to accommodate almost any level of fitness.

Aqua groove (7-7:45 MWF) and Aqua circuit (7-7:45 T-Th) are classes that incorporate movement to music and resistance equipment (kick boards, foam dumbbells, and/or noodles) to improve strength and endurance. As with all of our classes, movements can be modified for almost any level of fitness.

Forever Fit (8-9 M-F) involves warm up and movement of all major muscle groups, 15-20 minutes of cardio, strengthening exercises, finishing with cool down exercises and stretching. It is an all around great workout and a great place to begin if you're new to water fitness.

Deep Water Class (7-7:45 M & W) is held in the lap pool where water temperature is 81-83 degrees. Participants wear provided floatation belts as they do strengthening and cardio exercises. See post from Sept. 25, 2025 for more information.

Schedule change…starting September 29…
Deep Water class with Joann will move to Mondays & Wednesdays at 7am in the lap pool! (There will no longer be Deep Water on T-Th)

TOP 10 REASONS TO TRY DEEP WATER CLASS:
10. Does double-duty: cardio & strength training (bc of water resistance).
9. More intensity (due to water resistance) with LESS stress on body.
8. Increases endurance (due to deep water’s resistance).
7. Aids Lymphatic drainage (Pressure of water can reduce swelling because water is similar to a compression garment) and may increase circulation (by helping venous return).
6. Less Stress On Weight Bearing Muscles & Joints (Up to 90% less body weight in neck deep water).
5. Balance Challenged more than shallow water.*
4. Good Temp for higher intensity exercise (for those who overheat).**
3. Less compression load to spine.
2. Strengthen Core muscles (they must stay engaged to remain vertical).
And the #1 reason to try deep water class…
BURN MORE CALORIES!!! (In addition to the exercises, you burn calories to raise core body temp in cooler water.)

*You will have a ski belt around your waist. **Water is 81-83 degrees Limited number of slots in class available.
