SENIOR SPOTLIGHT - ETHAN SMITH #6

Ethan has played football all 4 years at Santana, with 2 years on varsity.

His favorite memory is the Chula Vista game this year which was one of his best games ever played!

“Getting to meet and play with some of my closest friends throughout all my years playing football is something I will always remember!” -Ethan

After graduation, Ethan plans to go to college and study criminal justice.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT - LUKE CLEMENT #63

My football journey started at just 8 years old, playing from 8U through 13U. One of my favorite memories from youth football was winning the championship when I played 11U.

My football experience has been amazing. I played my freshman year at Santana and am now back for my senior year. Football has given me great memories and experiences that I’ll always appreciate.

After high school, I plan to continue growing my business, Clement’s Dump and Cleanups, with the goal of expanding it throughout Southern California. I’m excited to see what the future holds and to keep working toward my goals.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT - BRODIE ACEBEDO #51

From his family:
Being Brodies parent has been a blessing from the day he was born. He has always been a good soul and any one could be his friend.
Brodie played baseball, you would have thought he was the coach! Don’t forget the Nachos!!
Brodie has played football and lacrosse throughout high school.
He’s got big aspirations after school, Army, Architect, maybe even president! He’s truly amazing I’ve always told him he could be whatever wanted to be.
So very proud of him!

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT - ETHAN TOTH #55

Though Ethan only started playing football his freshman year of high school, he quickly fell in love with the game, playing all four years of high school. Outside of enjoying the game itself, he cherishes the camaraderie the game brings and making memories with his friends. Many of his teammates have been life-long friends and he will never forget the hard work they have put in to become better each day.

After high school, Ethan looks to attend a university to pursue an education in business and finance.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT - RAUL CORTEZ #66

From his Family:
Raul has been playing football for 4 years now. He was always interested in football but never got the courage to play when he was younger. As soon as he graduated middle school, he finally built up the courage to play. Ever since that day, he became so passionate about the sport and has now dedicated himself to be the best and play the best. We are so proud of the strong and confident person he’s become over the years. Football brought out the best in him and he has become more confident than ever! We have been there every step of the way and can’t wait to see where this passion takes him. We’ll always be there to cheer you on and we’ll always be your number one fans.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT - KOLTEN “KOKO” THORNTON

Kolten has played football since age 5 including all four years at Santana 3 on varsity.

He grew up playing this game with some of my best friends. Wouldn’t trade it for anything.

After high school Kolten will either continue to play football at the next level and study fire science to become a firefighter.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT - YONES ISSE #67

From his Mom:
Yones is the one in our family who is always cracking jokes and making everyone laugh. He is full of happiness, always smiling, and brings so much joy to the people around him. He takes pride in being on time, and one of his biggest passions is sports.

But Yones’s story is special even before all of that. Back in 2008, when I went into labor with him, the airplane we were on had to make an emergency landing because I was going into labor. It was an unforgettable moment that even made the news with Alaska Airlines. From the very beginning, Yones has been a miracle baby. His arrival was a story we will never forget, and I will always be grateful that we made it through that experience.

Yones has always had a strong passion for sports. Even after injuring himself twice—breaking a finger one time and his hand another time—he has never wanted to give up on the sport he loves. His determination, strength, and dedication show how much his dreams mean to him.

Throughout his journey, Yones has attended three high schools:

Eastlake High School — 2023
Spring Lake Park High School — 2024
Santana High School — 2025–2026

One thing I admire most about Yones is that when he sets his mind to something, even when he is unsure of himself, he steps up, gets involved, and gets the job done. He continues to push himself, learn, and grow.

I am so proud of the young man he has become. From being my miracle baby in 2008 to watching him grow into the funny, happy, determined young man he is today, my heart is full. He has overcome challenges, kept his smile, and continued chasing what he loves.

Yones, you will always be my miracle baby. Never forget the incredible story you came into this world with, and never stop believing in yourself. Keep making people laugh, keep smiling, keep working toward your dreams, and never give up on the things you love. No matter where life takes you, I will always be proud of you and will always be cheering you on. I love you more than words can ever explain! ❤️🥹🏆
