On Sunday, our deputies answered a call we hope never happens. An officer from the Sandy Police Department had been shot during a domestic disturbance. The suspect barricaded himself inside a residence. Sandy Police later confirmed multiple people inside the home died in what is now being investigated as a homicide.
Our deputies and on-duty members of the East County Metro SWAT Team responded to provide assistance to both the Sandy Police Department and Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office during this dynamic and dangerous incident. We are grateful that the injured officer is at the hospital recovering from their injuries — likely because of the heroic efforts of fellow officers, paramedics, and hospital personnel.
Our thoughts are with the recovering officer, the homicide victims, their families, the entire Sandy community. We are also thinking of the first responders who faced significant danger on Sunday. We offer our support and full assistance to Chief Patrick Huskey and the entire Sandy Police Department as they navigate the aftermath of this incident.
