Cal Poly Athletics has 21 men's and women's intercollegiate athletic teams that compete at the NCAA Division I level. The Mustangs compete in the Big West conference in all sports except for wrestling (Pac-12), swimming and diving (MPSF) and football (Big Sky).

Logan Walter and 🌹isabella🌹 broke the single season win record together this season with 36, cementing them as the winningest pair in program history with a total of 66 wins together. The Mustangs won the Big West Championship for the fourth year in a row and advanced all the way to the NCAA Championship Quarterfinals. Both were named second team All-Americans and Izzy was named Cal Poly’s Female Athlete of the Year. Logan Walter and Izzy Martinez and the Columbia Bank for Beach Volleyball this season! Congratulations on an incredible season, Logan and Izzy!

Cal Poly Baseball finished a historic season that saw them reach a Super Regional for the first time in program history. Ryan Tayman played a key role in the Mustangs’ remarkable season, earning him NCBWA All-American third team, All-West Region first team, Big West Co-Field Player of the Year honors, and Most Outstanding Player of the Los Angeles Regional. Tayman broke the all-time school records for putouts in a single season and tied the record for home runs at 18. The backstop hit .357 with 19 doubles and 57 RBIs on the season. For his fantastic season, Ryan Tayman is the Columbia Bank for Baseball—congratulations, Ryan!

It was the year of the Mustang! 🐎

The Mustangs once again dominated the Big West this season, winning 11 overall championships! Men’s and women’s cross country, volleyball, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, beach volleyball, women’s golf, men’s tennis, men’s track and field, and baseball (Regular season and Postseason) all won Big West titles.

The most by a single school in an academic year in Big West history!

Congrats to Ryan Tayman from Baseball on being named Cal Poly’s Male Athlete of the Year!
 
An All-Big West First Team selection and the Co-Big West Field Player of the Year, Ryan led the conference in home runs and RBIs, and has tied Division I program records for home runs and grand slams, guiding the Mustangs to the Los Angeles Regional title and a spot in the Super Regionals this weekend!

An AVCA Second Team All-American, a First Team All-Big West selection and a AVCA Top Flight Winner, Izzy and her partner, Logan Walter, led the nation in wins this year while setting the program’s single-season and career pair wins records!
