Piper Niven has been sidelined with a serious neck injury and has not competed since the August 22, 2025 episode of WWE SmackDown, where she picked up a win over Charlotte Flair.

The former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion has since undergone an anterior discectomy procedure as she continues her recovery.

Earlier reports suggested the injury could potentially be career-threatening, although there was still optimism at the time that she could eventually return to the ring.

After a recent livestream, a fan posted a message thanking Niven for her career and expressing concern over her future in wrestling.

"After watching Piper’s stream yesterday and knowing she potentially can’t wrestle again, I just want to say thank you piper for being the amazing human being you are and the years of kindness you have shown! Slaygent & Doudrop will live on❤️ cheers to the memories"

Niven clarified that nothing is confirmed regarding her in-ring future. She explained that while a return is still possible, there is also a chance she may never wrestle again, and she simply wants to manage expectations given the long recovery process.

"Don’t count me out just yet chick, just letting people know that it will be a long time and maybe possibly not at all so we don’t have to answer the same question 50 times a stream 😉 x"

Janel Grant has publicly denied being behind the anonymous emails that ultimately helped trigger the chain of events that led to Vince McMahon's WWE departure and the fallout that followed.

Grant addressed the issue on Instagram and said reading the emails for the first time was emotionally difficult:

"Anonymous Emails

Reading these for the first time took a sledgehammer to my mental health. I feel like a Taylor Swift lyric and wonder if someone caged me just to call me crazy. I'm not wired to understand why someone would write them. But I am trained to notice the use of hair splitters and spin."

She then shared part of one of the anonymous messages that had been sent to WWE's board. The email claimed to be written by a friend and included allegations about her personal life and her relationship with McMahon.

Anonymous Email 1 from March 30, 2022:

"My friend worked at WWE. She is [NAME REDACTED] and we live homeless for a while on p-rcs etc. Etc. We went to get cleaned up together and she met chief chairman Vince McMahon not too long after that. Vince McMahon gave her a job and paid her one hundred thousand dollars every year until he started f----ng her then he paid her two hundred thousand dollar a year he is 80 years old and took my friends soul just because he could. Vince McMahon gave her like a toy his friend John who works at WWE too John is 70 and her boss to. My friend was so scared so she quit after Vince McMahon and lawyer Jerry paid her millions of dollars to shut up I am going to the media as well I don't want anything from from I just want the world to know the truth about this pe-vert."

After posting the email, Grant disputed several of its claims and argued that whoever wrote it did not actually know her:

"What happened before 2019:

While caring for my parents - two sets of illness, medical debt, hospitalizations - they declared bankruptcy and we lost our family home. Life was such a disaster that Hurricane Sandy dropped a tree on the house that we were in the process of losing.

What never happened: No living on the street. No addictions to 'pe-cs.' No rehab. There is no person who knew me in life pre-dating 2019 who could write this.

The spin: A friend? I see a trick to steer public perception.

Homeless? I shared my background at work. Rehab? I shared my experience with grief counseling at work.

Addiction? I shared that quitting nic0tine lozenges wasn't fun at work. A threat to expose info? It's a highly reactive environment with security vendors in place. The rest of the email? It repackages years of time and illogical events involving a lot of people who have eyeballs into a logic sounding storyline with only a few people.

This email doesn't contain allegations. This email is a storyline.

Who sent this? I don't know. But public documents show a reimbursement of $20,098,000 in legal costs related to a special committee's investigation on 3/19/23."

Grant also published screenshots of two additional anonymous emails sent in April 2022. One message accused McMahon and John Laurinaitis of mistreating a WWE employee and claimed that settlements had been used to keep her quiet. Another suggested that evidence could allegedly be found on McMahon's phone and referenced explicit images and activity.

Anonymous Email 2 from April 11, 2022:

"The board of directors for major company like wwe does not care that the old founder and his old sidekick johnny Laronitis took advantage of a who only worked hard? She would be angry that I wrote this but I want no money. I am sending this out to your stock holders tomorrow and to all lawyers my friend worked with. The lawyers knows of the settlements investigate and you will see WWE paid for her silence. [REDACTED] is her name. Very good lady. Treated like an animal by Vince Mcmahon and Johnny Loronitis. Sent with ProtonMail secure email."

Anonymous Email 3 from April 14, 2022:

"Deadspin is surprised that board of directors has not checked vince mcmahon s phone which will show all of his hurtful pictures back and forth to [deleted] these include pictures of his pr!v@te$ to a 25 year old employee and them in [redacted] together and with Johnny in [redacted] acts with her. Gross old men abu $ing a 25 year old. Sent with ProtonMail secure email."

After reviewing those messages, Grant said she was disturbed by what they might imply.

"About Anonymous Emails 2 and 3

I'm pretty sick over whether this is implying a revenge [redacted] situation and whether it extends to Deadspin. A media company. I'm sick over whether this is implying I was being filmed and didn't know it. I'm sick over whatever it is that I don't know."

Grant maintained that she was not responsible for sending any of the emails and questioned both their accuracy and the motives of whoever authored them.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has opened up about a terrifying medical scare he quietly dealt with earlier this year while balancing a massive Hollywood schedule.

In a new interview with Esquire, the WWF Legend revealed that he discovered a painful lump on one of his te$t!cle$ while taking a shower. Despite his intense fear, Johnson chose to keep the situation completely to himself, hiding the discovery from his wife, Lauren, because he did not want to cause her unnecessary panic before knowing the actual facts.

The timing of the discovery forced the actor to endure an incredibly agonizing 24 hours. The very next day, Johnson had to attend a major press event for his upcoming Jumanji movie. He explained that he had to spend the entire day smiling, cracking jokes, and giving speeches to crowds of people while secretly dealing with extreme pain and wondering if he had a life-threatening illness.

Fortunately, the scare ended with good news. When Johnson finally made it to his doctor's appointment, he was told the issue was either a treatable inflammation called epididymitis or potentially cancer. After further examination, doctors gave him the all-clear.
