And now, something completely different. We toured El Depósito (The Deposit), an abandoned, 144-year-old underground water reservoir in the city of San Juan, Metro Manila. Built in 1882 from volcanic tuff, the underground reservoir held water pumped from the Marikina River before it flowed to various fountains & hydrants across Manila. An adjacent museum displayed its century+ history.🥰🇵🇭🤍🫶🏻

We took a day trip down memory lane to a Shrine we visited 24 years ago, before we were even married: the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of Peace, located at one of the busiest intersections of Metro Manila. The huge church is dedicated to the mother of Jesus, who Filipinos believe miraculously interceded to oust the Ferdinand Marcos dictatorship in a peaceful and bloodless uprising, which is now world-renowned as the People's Power Revolution of 1986.
