Thank you who ever turned the heater off last night! Today’s show was warm, but not excruciatingly hot! A much more manageable temp for our 52 riders and their horses.
I need to say a huge thank you to all our volunteers this weekend. We never had to ask for help more than once & someone was always ready to jump in. It is so nice to have parents & friends lend us a helping hand. If you don’t know how to help…WE WILL TRAIN YOU!
😊. Also, I have to acknowledge our hard working board. There are many people behind the scenes that make these shows happen. From announcing, time writing, judging, arena gates and the even less glamorous jobs like clean up. Your board is the tireless & is there early and stays late. Be sure to say THANK YOU!!!

Today our awards were things to get ready for winter! Nice thick, snuggly blankets for High Point, new halters and leads for reserve, bridle storage bags for third, blanket bags for fourth, haybags for fifth and, because it is Halloween, treat buckets/backbacks for sixth. Yes, we went to 6th again today because we love TREATS NOT TRICKS!!! Here are your Sunday award winners!

Lead Line received a Halloween backpack full of goodies.

What a great day! Be sure to check out the reel I posted from today of all the costumes. Such great ideas and so much FUN! This is my absolute favorite show of the year because we see such creativity. I will be posting an album of our costumed riders for both days. Tammy Lonardo took pics on Saturday so keep an eye out for those too!

Our next function is one of our most exciting events of the year, Boots & Buckles Year End Award Dinner. This is the one day a year we leave our horses at home and get all gussied up for an amazing day of recognition & achievement. We have 70 custom buckles, 25 custom jackets, 6 cowhide binders, 6 Molly's Custom Silver pendants, 6 Custom Tack Shop headstalls, 6 Best Ever Pads Custom Saddle Pads & 6 Galbraith Custom saddles! Tickets are available for pick up or they will be in will call at the event. Each qualified rider receives 2 tickets to our PRIME RIB DINNER. Additional tickets can be purchased for $50. Stay tuned for more updates.

Until next time, ride hard, ride fast, wear your helmets & HUG YOUR HORSES!

Someone forgot to turn the heater off in Salinas! Holy cow it was hot today for our 2026 OCTOBER SPOOKTACKULAR show! I think it was 96° at the MCSP at 3:00. Brutal for us coastal dwellers.
We started our day nice and cool at 57° as riders were putting the final touches on their costumes. We had 34 riders in costume! So much fun! Every rider got a bag of treats. Check out the reel I shared with most of our costumed Tri-County Riders.

Since it was a Halloween show our awards were trick or treat style…. You NEVER know what you’re going to get…. We take all the leftover awards from the past year (and some other really cool stuff) and create CRAZY MISMATCHED AWARDS! Lots of suprise. Oh wait! Another treat…. We went to 6th place in all 6 divisions today too! That means that 36 out of our 54 riders took home an award!

We hope everyone likes your prizes. Here are your award winners for Saturday, October 17th:

Even with the weather, we had an amazing day! I want to give a special shoutout to the Borland Clan for joining us. Michelle, Maddie, Zeke & Angel. Maddi Borland is our California Rodeo Salinas Rodeo Queen and many years ago got her start with TCR. It was so fun to see her all grown up and participating in GYMKHANA. Today was proof that Rodeo and Gymkhana can co-exist and we can support each other. ❤️. That is what the western lifestyle is all about.

We are back at it tomorrow! Costume parade is at 9am! (Yes, I have a different costume for Sunday😉). Hope to see you all there!!!!!
