🇯🇵🐬 MELISSA AND THE DOLPHIN POD HAVE INVADED JAPAN! 🐬🇯🇵
No wetsuits, no dive boats, and somehow nobody has asked for a Nitrox fill yet…but the Dolphin Pod is still managing to have one heck of an adventure! 😂
The crew kicked things off in Tokyo with ancient temples, colorful markets, incredible food, the Tokyo National Museum, and the futuristic world of teamLab. Steve even managed to leave his mark by submitting some Dolphin Scuba artwork that was transformed into a digital dolphin and projected onto the wall. 🐬 Apparently, Dolphin Scuba has now officially gone international AND digital!
Then came LIVE SUMO! 💪 We learned about the history and traditions of the sport and witnessed one wrestler nearly lose his belt. 😳 Thankfully, Melissa resisted the temptation to enter the ring and defend Dolphin Scuba’s honor.
Next, the Pod jumped aboard Japan’s famous bullet train 🚅 and headed toward Mt. Fuji, where dive gear was traded for yukata robes, mineral hot springs, an amazing seasonal dinner, and spectacular views. We even braved a lightning storm on the Hakone Ropeway to eat the famous black hot-spring eggs that supposedly add seven years to your life. Considering the lightning storm, we’re pretty sure we used up at least three of those years getting there. 😂⚡🥚
We learned the art of matcha making from a beautiful maiko who entertained us with songs and games. Melissa also managed to get everyone into traditional kimonos—even Brian, who swore he was NOT wearing a dress! 😂👘
The adventure continued through the famous 1,000 Torii gates, followed by a hike through the heat and humidity to visit the monkeys of Arashiyama. And no, we weren’t sweaty at all. Not even a little. 😅🐒
Then it was off to Nara to feed the sacred deer, considered messengers of the gods. 🦌 Steve was immediately swarmed but successfully deployed his newly mastered deer-judo techniques and escaped unharmed.
Melissa, however, got a little more personal attention from the sacred deer than she bargained for… one decided to take a bite out of her backside! 😂🦌🍑 Apparently, that’s the deluxe Nara experience. We’re choosing to believe that’s some sort of ancient Japanese blessing.
Tonight, the Dolphin Pod heads back out to experience the lights and nightlife of Tokyo. At this point, we’re just hoping everyone makes it home without Melissa getting attacked by any more sacred wildlife.
Japan 2026 — temples, sumo, monkeys, kimonos, digital dolphins, life-extending eggs, and one very aggressive deer.
Just another perfectly normal Dolphin Scuba trip! 😂🐬🇯🇵
