My friend Brendan brought in yet another gem, this time a mid-1980s Medici Pro-Strada. The California company, featuring the master framebuilding of Mario Confente, was a spin-off (of sorts) from Masi U.S.A. during the late-'70s. Brendan is not letting my Euro-snobbery affect his build decisions, and he went with a very nice, early Shimano 600 groupset.

The 58cm frame on this early-1980s Tommasini Racing Strada is constructed of Columbus SL tubing and Cinelli lugs and features wonderful pantografia (engravings) everywhere! It includes a set of Tommasini-engraved shift levers as part of the beautiful Campagnolo Nuovo Record groupset. Cinelli bars and stem, as well as a set of Mavic MA40 wheels, round out the components. It was owned by an older gentleman who raced back-in-the-day, so it shows some wear and "patina", but it was never crashed. SOLD

I'm selling this beautiful 2012 Colnago CLX 3.0 for a friend - he now in his 80s and only rode this occasionally on the nearby Schuylkill Trail. He has been a cyclist all of his life and was fanatical about caring for his machines; it is in nearly flawless condition! Ciocc is a high-quality Italian brand that might not have the reputation of Colnago and Pinarello, but that might only be because they've never had a presence in the pro peloton. This 57cm Designer '84, Columbus SLX steel frame has a bit of a retro-mod build, with a fantastic Campagnolo Super Record crankset and seatpost that were part of the original purchase, combined with a Chorus 9-speed group. A friend brought in his special 50th anniversary Daccordi frameset, with appropriate engravings and metal badges on the top tube. Yes, it is a bit sacrilegious to not have built it up with Campagnolo, but the Shimano Sante group has an attractive two-tone pearl and light gray finish. An Italian 3T cockpit, including a Daccordi-engraved stem, and a Cinelli Volare saddle finish of the bike nicely.

No, I don't just build bicycles for racers or the folks (like me) who like to speed along most of the time. An older customer just wanted something super-light that she could easily swing in and out of the back of her SUV. This 2009 Pinarello FP3 certainly fit the bill, and I outfitted it in the requested flatbar configuration.
