For more than 30 years, golfers have made the journey to Double JJ Resort to experience one of West Michigan's most scenic rounds.

When the Arthur Hills Thoroughbred Golf Club opened in 1993, legendary course architect Arthur Hills designed every hole to work with the natural landscape—rolling hills, wetlands, lakes, and Michigan woodlands—creating a course that's both beautiful and challenging. Today, it continues to be recognized as one of Michigan's premier public golf destinations.

Just up the road, Grand View Golf Course has earned its own reputation for dramatic elevation changes, panoramic views, and its unforgettable island-green par 3 on Hole 8.

One thing hasn't changed over the years: the scenery is just as breathtaking, and yes... horses still have the right-of-way on the cart paths.

Have you played either course over the years? We'd love to see your favorite photos and hear your memories! Send them to [email protected]. your story could be featured in a future post.

Ready to tee it up? Book your next round and experience the tradition for yourself.

Throwback Tuesday

takes us back to a time when our grounds were bustling with horse shows, jumping events, riding competitions, and equestrian gatherings that brought together horse lovers from near and far. For many years, our arena was a place where riders learned, competed, celebrated victories, and created memories that have lasted a lifetime. The "then" photo is a reminder of the incredible history that helped shape who we are today.

While times have changed, our passion for western heritage, horses, and community remains just as strong. Today, we've shifted our focus, and instead of hosting numerous horse shows throughout the year, we're proud to continue that tradition by hosting two exciting rodeos each year along with our Wrangler Games every Saturday. These events keep the spirit of competition alive while bringing families, friends, and horse enthusiasts together to enjoy the excitement of the arena.

Whether you remember the days of clearing jumps, cheering from the stands, or now enjoy the thrill of barrel racing, rodeo action, and our weekly Wrangler Games, every chapter has played an important role in our story. Our history is built on generations of riders, hardworking volunteers, loyal spectators, and a community that continues to support western traditions.

As we look back, we're grateful for everyone who has been part of our journey—from the early horse show days to the rodeos and Wrangler Games we host today. Here's to honoring our past while creating new memories for generations to come.

Do you remember attending one of our horse shows? We'd love to hear your favorite memories, email us! [email protected]

Horseback Ride Update | July 18–19

After consulting with our veterinarian, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel all horseback rides scheduled for Saturday, July 18, due to the combination of the extreme heat index and wildfire smoke. All affected guests have been contacted and will receive a full refund.

At this time, we are not accepting any new horseback ride bookings for Sunday, July 19. We’ll continue monitoring conditions closely and will make a decision on Sunday’s scheduled rides as we get closer. If conditions remain unsafe, those rides will also be canceled and fully refunded.

Our horses are family, and their health and well-being will always come first. Thank you for your understanding and support as we make the best decision for them.

If you have any questions, please contact our Equestrian Center at 231-760-9053. ❤️🐴

☀️ Horseback Ride Update ☀️

With the extreme heat forecast this week, we've made the difficult decision to pause all new horseback ride bookings through at least Friday (7/17/2026)

Our team will do everything we can to honor rides that are already scheduled, but the safety and well-being of our horses will always come first. If conditions are too hot for them to safely work, we will cancel rides as needed.

If your ride is canceled due to the weather, you will receive a full refund.

We know many of you look forward to riding, and we truly appreciate your understanding. Thank you for supporting our commitment to putting the health and welfare of our horses first. ❤️🐎

For any questions on this matter, please feel free to reach out to our equestrian department either at (231) 760-9053; or at [email protected]
