Some people run races. Some people MAKE races possible.

For years, Brad De Luchi and the legendary Horseshoe Bar crew have brought energy, laughter, costumes, chaos, encouragement, and unforgettable memories to NorCalUltras events like American River and Rio Del Lago. From disco themes and mascot onesies to goats wandering into aid stations and runners crushing quesadillas mid-breakdown 😂 — Horseshoe Bar has become one of the most iconic aid stations around.

But underneath all the fun is something bigger:
community.
People showing up for each other.
Volunteers giving their time, heart, and energy to help runners keep moving forward.
Trail running is so much more than splits and finish lines. It’s about connection, shared suffering, ridiculous moments, and the people who make the experience unforgettable.

What a DAY at American River Endurance Runs! Presented by Altra! ☀️🏃‍♂️🔥

To all our incredible racers — THANK YOU for bringing the energy, the grit, and those unbeatable good vibes. The sun was shining, the trails were buzzing, and every mile was filled with determination and community spirit 💛

Huge shoutout to our AMAZING volunteers — you are the heart of this event. From start to finish, you showed up in the best way possible 🙌 And let’s hear it for those aid stations… stocked, supportive, and full of all the snacks we could dream of 🍊🍪🥨

And of course… ONYX THE OTTER 🦦 stealing the show with high fives and cheers all day long!!

You’re in luck! Right next door to the Auburn Overlook (102 Gum lane!) is the Ponderosa Cider tap room! Walk over and wait for your runner with a crispy cider of your own, open 12-9 pm on Saturday, it’s a great spot to kill some time or celebrate with the crew!
