Golfweek has released it latest rankings of the top modern courses (built after 1960) and The Loop checks in at 145th on the list. Seven courses from the state of Michigan made the top 200 with four of them being private clubs. Now on tap at the Bootlegger Bar, Atwater Brewery's Purple Gang Pilsner. This German style pilsner is an ode to the Detroit Mafia family known as the Purple Gang. Most notably the property that Forest Dunes sits on was once called the South Branch Ranch and legend has it the Purple Gang stored alcohol here during prohibition. It was a picture perfect day for the 25th The Dual at The Loop event. Congratulations to the winning team of Ben Martenson and John Martenson who shot a 134 to take the overall title. Joseph Zito and Benjamin Bialek took home the net championship with a 126.

Congratulations to Michael Ellis for his hole-in-one today on The Loop Red No. 6. The hole played 134 yards and he used a pitching wedge. Nice shot!

Such a fun 10 hole short course at Forest Dunes Golf Club in Roscommon called the Bootlegger! Up to 12 people can play together, there’s music on the course, and you can go around as many times as you want. 58 and windy didn’t stop us from having a blast and making some great memories!
