What happens during a Baby & Me swim lesson at La Petite Baleen?

During each 30-minute class, parents stay in the water while a swim teacher guides babies through songs, gentle water adjustment, floating, kicking, splashing, early breath control, and safe pool entries and exits.

Every activity is designed to help babies become comfortable, confident, and happy in the water while supporting physical, cognitive, and social development. Parents also learn how to safely support their child and continue building water confidence over time.

Our Baby & Me swim lessons are playful, encouraging, and designed to create a positive bonding experience for both parent and baby.

Join us this August for a FREE Level 1 Workshop at La Petite Baleen. Workshops are part of our Extended Training Program for Swim Teachers, giving teachers additional hands-on practice while swimmers enjoy a free bonus lesson to build confidence and strengthen their skills.

Why start swim lessons at just 2 months old? 💙🐳

At La Petite Baleen, our infant lessons are about so much more than swimming. They're designed around child development and help babies build comfort, confidence, and familiarity in the water during a time of incredible growth.

In a typical lesson, you'll see songs, games, tummy time, gentle submersions, movement through the water, and plenty of parent-child interaction. Along the way, babies practice breath control, strengthen developing muscles, experience new sensory input, and begin building the foundation for future swimming and water safety skills.

Parents often tell us their babies sleep especially well after swim class—and many make lifelong friends with other families along the way!

Most importantly, lessons are fun. We believe children learn best through positive experiences, repetition, and age-appropriate challenges. That's why our curriculum is carefully designed to meet children where they are developmentally and help them grow into strong, happy, confident swimmers who love the water.

Thinking of joining one of our free Baby Workshops? 👶💙

These photos are from a past Infant Workshop, where families enjoyed extra swim time while getting a behind-the-scenes look at what makes La Petite Baleen unique.

As pioneers in infant swimming lessons, we've always believed that children learn best when lessons match their stage of development. Our curriculum is rooted in child development, and every activity is intentionally designed to be fun, and age-appropriate.

Baby Workshops are also an important part of our teacher training program, giving families the opportunity to see how we train our teachers, what we teach in our infant classes, and why we teach it that way.

✨ Baby Workshops are happening this month at all La Petite Baleen locations (for babies ages 2–12 months).

🎁 Every participating family will be entered into a raffle to win an LPB hooded baby towel.
