What is six days of racing at elevation like when coming from essentially sea level? It's hard, really hard...but it was also an incredible experience!

I've been racing for nearly a decade now, and for every one of those years, I've had a coach to direct my training. It's not that I can't plan a season or workout or training plan, but its the accountability and wisdom of that external voice that makes having a coach so valuable.

If you're starting to think about some races or fitness goals for 2027 and think individualized, structured training could help you meet them (hint, it will! 😉), shoot me a message. Let's chat about your goals and see if working together would be a good fit!

One of my favorite enduro races is the Slatyfork Enduro, and this year, Kate Schrock () raced it for the first time (and in the Pro field!) as a part of the Ride Fierce Women's Scholarship.

In her words: "...it was just really fun. Instead of spending the day worrying about racing somewhere completely unfamiliar, I got to hang out with people I liked, ride bikes, talk s**t, and laugh between stages. They turned what could have been a pretty intimidating day into an adventure with friends."

Her full race report is up on the blog. I'm so proud of Kate for showing up, leaning into the challenge, and even getting onto the podium!

This weekend's was also a target race for Heather Nowell (), one of the Ride Fierce Women's Scholarship recipients.

In her words: "The mental and physical challenge of something like this is just crazy. Despite the conditions, I managed to squeak out a second place finish. Finishing a race on paper is an individual accomplishment but I definitely wouldn’t have been able to do it without a huge collection of people— thank you all!"

Her full race report is up on the blog. It was awesome to see all of Heather's work preparing for this race be rewarded with a podium!

While I'm STOKED to have gotten 🥉 at The Shed Enduro this weekend, its really the community that filled my cup. So grateful for this crazy group of people I've found through mountain bikes. 💜

Race report here:

These were the words from my coach in the week leading up to The Shed Enduro, the region’s largest enduro race, as I battled the competing and accumulating pressures of work, a new position a…

What a wild ride the ORAMM was this year! From everything I've heard, the conditions were legendary--slick mud, torrential downpour, and classic North Carolina summer humidity. I am so incredibly proud of the way that the Ride Fierce Scholarship athletes , , , and all showed up this weekend.

Their race updates are live on the blog: check it out and give them a big congrats for not just a great race, but also the months of hard work, training, and preparation that led up to this weekend's event!

We had a great time at the first Intro to Gravity clinic last week, and for those still on the fence, there are still a few spots left on both July 28 and August 4.

We'll cover a few climbing techniques (because we do have to get up to go down...), as well as scanning, body position for descending, roll-downs, and more--all with the goal of being able to descend more confidently. Plus, you'll get to ride/hang out with a group of other rad ladies, and might make some new friends! 😃

I guess I'm a singlespeeder now?

It’s taken me a few days to figure out what I want to say about XC National Championships last week. It was a long week, and I’m still tired. Four races in six days. Two volunteer shift…

Fun is fast.

That was my mantra going into yesterday's race. I'd only ridden my bike singlespeed twice since March, had not pre-ridden the "red" course that we were racing, and hadn't ridden my bike at all with the gearing I chose for the day. So much uncertainty, but in the end, all racing is just riding bikes...and riding bikes is fun! 🤘

I really didn't come into this week with any expectations, but I'm so incredibly grateful to be able to win my first National Championship title here in Roanoke. What a special experience! 🇺🇸✨

I also need to give a HUGE shout-out to for (ironically, lol) fixing my broken spoke from the commute into downtown for the short track race on Thursday night. I handed him a wheel and the rest of my bike, a random collection of spokes, a tire, and sealant early yesterday morning and he and made sure I had a working bike for the start of the race. They literally saved my race. 🙏

Thanks too, to Houston & for the bottle handups that helped keep my body temperature just below full-on implosion heat-levels...and for the post-race b**r! 🍻

Its National Championships week here in Roanoke, and I'm one race down, with three left to go...

My thoughts on Sunday's XCM:

Yes, that was one of the things I found myself saying out loud as I was racing during the XCM National Championship this past weekend. The highlight of the race for me was that, towards the end of …
