It is such an honor to be included amongst so many talented and dedicated artists, organizations, and community members working hard to make this city unique and special. We are grateful to everyone who has embraced this project with open arms over the past year and a half and look forward to growing together in years to come.

Being able to provide a platform for those keeping arts and culture alive at the ground level is at the root of everything we do both through the Ren Faire and in our programming at Virago Alley.

One of the most amazing things about Richmond are the endless creative pursuits that continue to overcome external challenges and adversity because this community rallies together to sustain what it values most. It is through the dedication and passion from those communities that this event came to fruition.

The more we continue to uplift one another, the stronger we will be.

Virago Alley, the non-profit behind the Richmond Ren Faire, brings history to life on the stunning grounds of Agecroft Hall highlighting powerful figures from ancient civilizations through the 17th century. This event is rooted in a deeper purpose: reclaiming space in history for those whose stories have often been overlooked, simplified, or erased. These figures share a common thread in the roles and expectations placed upon them reflecting resilience, leadership, and resistance to limitation.

Virago Alley seeks to reclaim the word “virago,” once used to scorn women of strength, to invite others to feel empowered in spite of the expectations that society has placed on them. This event is not just a tribute, but a declaration of identity to honor viragos past and inspire those yet to come.

This immersive event features a mix of performances, storytelling, crafting activities, and an open-air artisan market. Enjoy local vendors, historically inspired fare, and a variety of family-friendly activities in a setting that perfectly blends past and present.

Hannah perfectly captured our inaugural Richmond Ren Faire, from the highs to the challenges. It was a hot Saturday and a cold Sunday, with a few hiccups along the way, but ultimately a beautiful celebration of Richmond and our incredible community of artists, makers, and dreamers.

This event has already inspired more people to come together, grow, learn, and create, and we can’t wait to continue building on it year after year. We are so grateful for this community and for the support behind the scenes that made it all possible.

We may be crying while we post this :-)

These last two weeks have been filled with reflection and recovery after the big weekend. We are incredibly appreciative to everyone who showed up and supported the inaugural Richmond Ren Faire through the heat and rain. This event was meant to be a collaborative effort that served as a platform to uplift our local community. The support we have seen not only helps fuel mission, but all of those individual artists, makers, and organizations as well.

This event was one for the books and it would not have been possible without the support from our generous sponsors, donors, and people like you! Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this project. We are grateful to have sponsors who understand and align with the mission of this work. These are groups that are serving the greater Richmond community and beyond with a similar level of dedication to uplifting local voices.

Thank you to Classic Party Rentals of Virginia Inc for all of the resources and assistance that you provided for this event. Your equipment helped provide shelter, created atmospheres, and provided space for performers and demonstrators to showcase their crafts. The team over at Classic has been incredibly supportive and we could not have brought this event to life without them.
