I’M NOT TRYING TO TEACH YOU HOW TO RIDE ONE HORSE.

I’m teaching you how to understand horses.

There’s a difference.

Anyone can feel confident when the horse is doing exactly what they expect. Real confidence is knowing what to do when the horse changes speed, loses balance, misses a cue, or gives you an answer you weren’t prepared for.

That is what you’re watching develop in this video.

This rider owns horses, but he does not currently have a rideable horse to practice on. Every bit of this progress has been earned during his lessons—one ride, one correction, and one breakthrough at a time.

He isn’t memorizing a pattern or being carried around by a finished lesson horse.

He is learning to think.
To feel.
To communicate.
To recognize what needs to change—and know how to change it.

That is the kind of rider I want to develop.

I want the child who dreams about horses to receive more than an occasional ride. I want them to gain skills that will protect them and serve them for a lifetime.

🇺🇸 NEVER FORGET — SEPTEMBER 11, 2001

For me, September 11th has never been just another date on the calendar.

I was a junior in high school, sitting in study hall, when I watched the towers fall. Like millions of Americans, I watched something unfold that I couldn’t fully comprehend at the time. But I knew our country—and my generation—would never be the same.

After graduating high school, I joined the United States Marine Corps. When I reached my first unit, I immediately volunteered to deploy in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The events of 9/11 left a lasting mark on the direction of my life, just as they changed the lives of countless Americans. For thousands of families, the loss that day was immeasurably greater.

Nearly 3,000 people went to work, boarded airplanes, reported for duty, or simply began an ordinary Tuesday morning and never came home.

But I also remember what happened afterward.

Americans stood together.

We prayed together. We flew our flag proudly. Strangers helped strangers. First responders ran toward danger while everyone else was running away. We weren’t consumed by all the things that divided us. For a moment in our history, we remembered that we were one nation, under God.

Twenty-five years later, I believe that’s something worth remembering too.

If you were old enough to remember September 11, 2001, think back to that day. Remember where you were. Remember the Americans we lost. Remember the firefighters, police officers, service members, first responders and ordinary citizens who demonstrated extraordinary courage.

And remember how this country came together afterward.

Never forget them. Never forget what America can be when we stand together.

Live proudly.
Live courageously.
Help your neighbor.
Stand for something bigger than yourself.

And never take for granted the privilege of calling yourself an American.

If you’ve been following along, you already know we’ve been working on something behind the scenes at Rocking Speer Ranch.

Here’s your next clue.

Growth creates some pretty good problems to have.

More horses. More clients. More trailers pulling through the gate. More people trusting us with their horses—and a realization that the way our property worked when we started isn’t necessarily the way it needs to work for where we’re headed.

So, we went back to the drawing board.

There’s been measuring, cutting, welding, moving things around and probably a little more colorful language than OSHA would recommend. 😂

The goal is simple:

Make what we already have work better for the people and horses coming through our gate.

Better flow. More room. Easier access. Safer movement of horses. And the ability to accommodate what Rocking Speer Ranch is becoming without losing what made this place ours in the first place.

We’re not showing you the whole thing yet.

There’s still welding to finish, work to be done and a hell of a cleanup ahead of us.

But piece by piece, it’s coming together.

Consider this clue #2.
