Packing for camping gets easier when you stop thinking item-by-item.
Long camping lists can make a simple weekend feel like you're planning an expedition.
Try organizing your gear by job instead:
WATER — What are we drinking and carrying it in?
FOOD — How are we storing, preparing and eating it?
LIGHT — What happens after sunset?
WEATHER — What keeps us warm, dry or protected if conditions change?
FIRST AID — Can we handle common minor injuries?
NAVIGATION — Do we know where we're going—and how to get back?
Once those six jobs are covered, add comfort items based on your campsite and family.
Simple systems beat random piles of gear.
