Calling all current and former Webb Brothers employees! 🛶

We are hosting our 1st annual family float trip on Saturday, Sept 12, 2026, and we want you there!

​Event Details:

​Meet at Store: 11:00 – 11:30 AM

​Load Trucks & Put In: Noon

​Float Time: Enjoy the river with family and friends!

​The Return: Late lunch / early dinner at the store with Harold. Two Brisket will be provided, and we are asking everyone to bring potluck side fixings! Bring your own drinks or buy them at the store.

​Evening: Bonfire in the field!

What a gorgeous day out on the river! ☀️🛶

We hosted several awesome groups today, including the Wooten family, the Chilhowee Middle School Girls Basketball team, and former employee Warren Langley! 🏀👋 Harold even had a great chat with his son, the history buff. 🏛️😎

​Tomorrow is shaping up to be another fantastic day to hit the Hiwassee River! 🌊🙌

Awesome weekend on the water! 🛶☀️

​We always love seeing familiar faces return! A huge shoutout to Mr. Tryjak and his boys for coming back to see us yet again for multiple years in a row!

​Autumn Tomczyn had so much fun funyaking last Saturday that she came right back today with her family to do it all over again! A special thanks to the White family as well for booking online.

We had some amazing international visitors stop by the store this week! 🌍✨

These two travelers came all the way from Germany to stock up on our famous Tennessee Moon Pies and local favorite Smarties suckers! 🥧🍬

Hiwassee River State Parks shared an important update yesterday! 🌊🛶

​The Hiwassee River will be operating on a normal flow through Labor Day (Monday, September 7)! 🎉

​However, our staff will still be on a drought schedule for the time being. Here is what you need to know:

​📞 Give us a heads-up! If you call to let us know you're on your way or if you book a normal trip, our staff will be there and ready for you!

​⏰ Week days Hours: Because things have slowed down a bit, we will stick to week drought schedule hours unless you reach out and let us know you're coming.

Weekend Hours: Normal

After Labor Day: We will keep you posted after we know something from TVA or Hiwassee State Parks.

We have an exciting update on the Hiwassee River Recreational Release Schedule!

For the next 3 weeks, through Monday September 7th (Labor Day 2026), TVA will be running the Hiwassee River at 2 Generators from 11 AM to 7 PM DAILY!

TVA has let us know that the recent rain we've gotten has helped stabilize and refill our local reservoirs, which means the water schedule can go back to its normal schedule. As always, these schedules are subject to change at any time due to weather, so please check https://www.tva.com/environment/lake-levels or call their toll-free number at 800-238-2264 (Apalachia feeds the Hiwassee).

A massive thank you to everyone and all the groups who came out this weekend! 🙌 We actually beat our 4th of July numbers on Saturday this year! 📈💥 Sorry we didn’t get a ton of pictures, but we were too busy keeping things rolling! 📸💨

​A very special shout-out to our 4-legged friends this weekend! 🐾🐶 If Peyton Manning had been there on Saturday, he definitely would have fallen in love with Miss Dolly Parton. 🏈💖 Then on Sunday, Mr. Wh***ey joined his daddy on the water 🛶🐕, plus Mr. T (not pictured) went down for his twentieth time this season! 🌊🏆Mrs. Rudy for stopping by Webb’s to see us for some extra love and treats! 🥰🦴We even had a visit from our neighbor, Mr. Duke, for belly rubs and sweet treats! 🐾 You never know when he will show up at the store, campground, public take-out, or other local businesses! 🚐⛺️

Have you ever been on the Hiwassee River or passing by when the fog rolls in? 🛶✨

It’s so magical and peaceful to watch it start and then completely cover the whole river!
​Have you ever wondered why the Hiwassee River is so special? This is why. Morning fog over the Hiwassee River in Polk County, Tennessee, is a common atmospheric phenomenon known as radiation or river valley fog. It frequently forms during clear, calm nights when cooler air settles over the warmer, moisture-rich waters of the winding mountain river. 🌄

​🌊 Why Fog Forms on the Hiwassee
​Water Temperature: Water retains heat longer than the surrounding mountain air, causing steady evaporation from the river surface.

​Cool Air Drainage: Heavy, chilled air flows down from the surrounding mountains into the low-lying river valley.

​Condensation: As the warm moisture hits the cold air just above the surface, it condenses into a thick, scenic layer of mist clinging to the water.

​High Humidity: Frequent East Tennessee rains and heavy vegetation keep the air moist.

​Mountain Terrain: Steep river bluffs trap the cool air and mist close to the water surface until the morning sun warms and lifts it.
