June 18, 2026 - City of Rawlins Announces New Parks and Recreation Director
The City of Rawlins is pleased to announce the hiring of Billy Hunt as the new Parks and Recreation Director. Hunt joined the City full-time this week and brings more than a decade of leadership experience in athletics, management, and community engagement. Passionate about the role parks and recreation play in building strong communities, Hunt will lead the Parks and Recreation Department, including the Rawlins Recreation Center, Rochelle Ranch Golf Course, Indoor and Outdoor Shooting Ranges, and Parks.
City Manager Matt Hall welcomed Hunt to the organization and community. “Billy brings a strong combination of leadership experience, operational knowledge, and enthusiasm to this role,” Hall said. “His energy, passion for community engagement, and commitment to building strong programs stood out throughout the hiring process. Parks and Recreation play an important role in the quality of life we provide for our residents, and we are excited to have Billy leading the department. I look forward to working with Billy on the ideas and experience he brings to Rawlins.”
Hunt is relocating to Rawlins from Arizona. Throughout his career, he has led community-focused organizations including athletic operations, hospitality management, and federal government administration including expertise in staff development and community programs. Outside of work, he enjoys sports and athletics, spending time outdoors, and hiking. He looks forward to becoming part of the Rawlins community and building on the department's existing successes.
